That's because more and more people realise that having degrees isn't as worth it anymore.

My sister teaches high school. She's had them make posters for the local universities including the average cost to attend. It's sad to see every single one go well above $100,000 for a four year degree. I love my college and I still go to football games, but there's no way in hell I would recommend anyone go there expecting to get a good return on investment.

Because they’re not teaching them anything. You can’t get a job with a leftist ideology indoctrination degree. HR departments look at resumes and if there is the slightest hint of woke on them, into the round file they go because they know these people will be lazy, entitled, quick to complain about anything that doesn’t go their way, and unwilling to adapt to the corporate culture, instead demanding that the company conform to theirs.

Even if you do end up using your degree you have to waste a lot of time and money paying for classes that have nothing to do with your degree

Modern plan: After high school, go work for a few years, then decide what you really want to pursue. Then, enroll based on that requirement for success - associates, BA/BS, trade school, etc. Consider a community college and get an associate's degree, then transfer into a 4-year school. You'll save a lot of time and money pinpointing your interests that way, eliminate the risk of getting a random and expensive degree you will do nothing with, and avoid the losing game of transferring credits if you change schools halfway through. As a result, these elite schools they speak of will actually have some competition and will need to compete with tuition and costs (instead of parents just sucking it up because "that's the way it is, I guess"). You might "miss out" on some of the college experience by doing this, but realistically, if you miss out on hanging with frats and sororities, you'll be plenty fine, believe me.

Teachers are paid so little everywhere in the world.

I have been scammed by the university system. Let me tell u my story, in short I graduated High school all As, I was published author, I was way above average on SAT score but I got no money. Others who graduated way below me in my class, got full rides/loans to be able to not worry for time being about paying for school. It’s a SCAM, they let the dummies in and keep the smart people out, bc they only care for those who can cough up enough $ not for those who are actually intelligent.

It's almost like people literally can't afford to take on thousands of dollars in crippling debt only to be forced to take a job that starts out at 14 dollars an hour while rent starts out at 1200 a month while you're blamed for ruining the economy

File for loan forgiveness and use those transferable skills somewhere else

All the colleges that have closed were either church colleges or liberal arts. These colleges were almost all private too.

All these marketing schemes believing that getting a college degree will get you a good job. A false narrative for these private colleges for the longest time.

If colleges reduce their tuitions and other cost, enrollments would go higher.

Most of those schools shouldn't exist to begin with. Education should be mostly non-profit or state operated to undergraduate level. There can be some private ones that meets the super rich, which is fine.

I work at a university and that’s what they’re saying and this will hit our economy very soon. Our tax base is sinking but government cost more and more. Collapse coming. Research says by 2030 nearly half of all marriage and child baring aged women will be single and childless. Congratulations America you’ve played yourself.

Ever since 1999( I was 16yrs old) I been telling people that college is a business scam supported by politicians, I graduated from high school and never went to college. I took up a trade school in welding and made more money then all my friends who went to universities, had my own company but had to close during covid but currently still making $150k a yr today but nothing near pre covid

Professors recycle the same material for decades and still ask you to get an expensive book while still earning almost 6 figures
