I don't even boo Bettman out of hate anymore. I've come to realize he does a great job on the business side of things. Plus, he takes all the boo's and heckles really well and I respect that.

As an Av fan,I wouldve taken that 42yr old beer league guy-ANYDAY-over Hunter Miska. Who was the backup goalie, for the Cup favorites,& in 5 or 6 terrible starts-had the 3rd worst stats in the NHL, in last 30 yrs or so. Despite playing behind arguably the deepest deffense/best defensive team on earth.

Now,we traded for Johansen,& I don't think he's gonna be the answer either..was pretty bad in Buffalo,& not great in his 1st game with the Avs. But he was playing behind a joke of a team,& unlike Miska-at least has some potential. Miska has never been a heralded prospect-at all-even when he played pretty good in AHL. Johansen was an AHL All Star,& might turn into something eventually. But he probably isnt ready to be an NHL backup yet-let alone for the Cup favorites. I'd probably take that beer league NOW,over Johansen-but no question I'd take him over Miska.

Love Burke, dude is old school and he knows hockey with the best of them. I am amazed that he was this open in this interview because he definitely seems very reserved when he's on TV, especially when he's talking to Duthie 🤣🤣

Love that he doesn't want to give his view on China. Knowing his character, dealing with China must make his skin crawl. Talk about brutal regimes. No one should be giving them anything.

Ryan, can you be honest and say if there was a breakaway hockey league that allowed you to play less games and make more than the career earning of the NHL's all time highest paid player you would turn it down? Be honest.

Goaltenders* shouldn't count against the cap... Neither should "franchise players**"

* NHL teams should require 2 dressed goaltenders that travel with the team and one relief/emergency goaltender that practices and is on-call in case they are needed and paid NHL minimum wage.

*Franchise Player is a player for a team that was drafted and only have played for their drafted teams til they are eligible for unrestricted free agency... Once they are eligible as a UFA, have a right of refusal to sign long term with their native- team that drafted them- team for an amount up to 25% higher than the league maximum- or up to 25% team's revenue [for totality of cumulative long term payout] (whichever's lesser)- if 'said' player chooses to stay with his native- drafted- team. His salary will be exempted from his team's salary cap- cap won't take a hit from his contract. A given team will be allowed to assign a "franchise player" label on 1 active eligible player at a given time. A given team is automatically protected from having it's "Franchise Player" poached due to franchise drafts- nor any other kind of secondary drafts. etc... There should probably be a limitations and penalty deterrent if the team or player wants the label unassigned the purpose of a trade or a buyout/early retirement, that won't cripple the team or player but also won't allow exploitation on either side. There should also be only one label that can be issued per duration of a potential long term UFA contract at a given time span. Teams should also have the option to not have to assign the "Franchise Player label if they don't want to.
This will resolve the emergency goaltending mockery the NHL has found itself in.

This Franchise label which has proven to work where applied in other major sports around the world, will incentive top star players of smaller markets to stay with their native- drafted- team, where otherwise at UFA would likely sign to a bigger market team and group with other all stars to form mega contenders- as is the tendencies since UFA's conception in the league- NHL...

This is a rough draft...

i like to hear anyone's ideas and your objections and additions...

But the problems need to be solved... And these are glaring!
