If I had a stay at home wife and we divorced I would be willing to support her for a period while she got herself on her feet, but that's it. I understand she may have given up her career for the family, but I gave up time with my family (longer hours) and years of my life (stress) to give her the privilege to stay at home. If any woman questions my use of the word privilege who, if anyone except children, would you work longer hours and a more stressful job, to allow them to stay at home? Cousins? Brothers? Sisters? The woman saying she "used to believe in the one" , that you shouldn't stay with someone just for love, that there are other things to consider, and then goes on to list things she has loved about guys she has been with. Is her brain just not able to compute that you fall in love with someone because of all the things about that person, so when you meet the person you want to spend the rest of your life, you haven't just tripped over them, looked at their face and bam, you're in love! She's talking about "other things to consider" after listing what she loved about her ex boyfriends, so literally describing how falling in love works, like the things she loved about those men weren't the precursor to falling in love with them. She is trying to suggest that there is no such thing as "the one" because she loved differing things about the men she had dated, implying that you need to stop and think before agreeing to spend your life with someone, cos there could be another person down the street with a different trait you might love.
The biggest thing she is missing, which makes it clear to me that she has never truly been in love, is that when you know you have met the person you want to be with forever, aka, THE ONE, you have experienced in the past things you do and don't want/love in a relationship and partner, the reason it hits you like a freight train that this is my person, is because they have ALL those things you love and non of the things you don't.
