If someone wants to employ you, can THEY ask for permission for you to work for them?
Ответить‘I freaking love sheep’ - you’ll fit right in!! 🤪
ОтветитьMy dream. I wish to travel with you. I love your videos a lot
ОтветитьHi Ash, you might find some of the videos from Evan Edinger's channel helpful. He is from New Jersey and has been living in the UK for many years, even got the UK citizenship last year. His older videos are probably more relevant to your current situation.
ОтветитьWow Ash, Croseo I Cymru 🏴. Back in the day we’d have just said you we’re our cousin Dai’s sister Ashley and you could have lived in the valleys for years but it’s not like that these days. Good luck on getting your visa’s sorted and look forward to seeing where your journeys take you. Living close to Cardiff myself I may even bump into you on my own adventure’s 😁👍
ОтветитьHubby and I are both 35 with 3 kids and looking at skilled workers visa as there’s not much more for us visa wise over 30 but jobs have been hard to come by and we have a lot of schooling and experience so I’d be curious what others are doing! We’re looking at one of us doing a masters program to do a visa that way if we can’t get a skilled workers visa in the next 6 months
ОтветитьI'm Welsh and have lived aboard and yes Wales does pull you back .
ОтветитьI am a Brazilian citizen i livre in the UK for over 3 years on a student visa. I was in Bournemouth, Dorset but Wales looks amazing. 👍🏻🙂🥰
ОтветитьWellies, get some muck boots while you are here.
ОтветитьUK has an official "hostile environment" for immigration. I'd get some legal advice about making a single penny by filming here if I were you. Hope you continue having a good experience here in Cardiff :-)🏴
ОтветитьWelcome to the UK and Wales. i live just inside the North Wales border on the outskirt of Chester.
Wales has a character of it's own, there are plenty of great places to explore.
I hope you will enjoy living here.🙂
The UK requires, doctors, nurses, carers, IT staff etc. The carer or IT options may be a way in. It's the same for Brits going to the US of course. Getting a green card is difficult, especially for older people.
ОтветитьWales is so beautiful.
I live in Devon, also beautiful.
Blessings on your new life in the UK!
I Like your 'Wellies' description! Very British, however, next time 'Green Wellies' are the authentic choice! Prefibly with straps! x
ОтветитьI don't know about visas for staying in the UK but how are you at picking fruit, that might help with a work visa
ОтветитьWhy not a 'partner' visa? As far as HMRC (like the IRS) is concerned, making videos for profit is gainful emploment and the income is taxable.
ОтветитьFair play to you both , be yourselves enjoy life in Wales
ОтветитьWe’re in the same town!! I hope you enjoy it here :)
ОтветитьSo first of all, welcome. My (now) wife and I went through the same process as you. I'm from Wales, we met online, but at first I actually moved to Canada to be with her. After a few years, we moved back to Wales and well... I'm very confident that you're actually in my home town. I don't want to name it in case you're keeping it chill, but those are some very recognisable scenes!
My wife also fell in love with it, and originally she was on a 6 month visa as well, so perhaps I can help by telling you our story? Long story short, we realised that in order to get her "indefinite leave to remain" (ILR) aka settled status aka permanent residency that we were going to have to go through A LOT OF STEPS.
If things work out with your Welshman and you want to stay, then you need a spousal visa. You have to get married, that's step 1 (I hope this has changed by now, this was the case for us when we started the process about 9 years ago now). You will also need to have been in a relationship together for 2 years before you can even apply for that spousal visa, so that might complicate things for you in the short term. And you have to pay a non-refundable fee.
Once you're married and get that visa, you'll be allowed to work and earn money.
Unfortunately, the ILR is more complicated. There's a residency requirement (5 years in the UK when we applied) AND a financial requirement. You and your partner have to be earning at least £18,600 a year or they'll just flat out reject you. When we applied, I alone had to be earning that, so I'm glad that's changed.
On top of that, you'll need to pass a "Life in the UK" test, get fingerprints and all sorts of stuff like that done and pay an NHS fee.
At the end of all of that, you'll have to pay a final fee for the actual ILR and in total you'll be about £10,000 down, but you'll be able to live, work and come and go without any restrictions as long as you keep hold of your ILR card! We finally finished ours in 2018, it was such a relief. Best of luck to you if you choose to go down this path.
That's beautiful. All of it. Everything you said. I wish you nothing but the best.
ОтветитьThis was fantastic to see. I’m elated by your joy. I’m an American from Wyoming moving to Wales in two months to be with my fiancé. It’s nice to know someone else is making this change and is pursuing love in such a wonderful place. I truly hope everything works out for you and that you enjoy your stay in Wales.
ОтветитьThat looks like the beach at Llantwit Major where I spent many a happy day as a youngster
ОтветитьWelcome to Wales - Croeso I Gymru. I am from the Isle of Anglesey in the the north and I now live in Conway on the north Wales coast. Come up for a visit up to the north for a few days, you will not be disappointed. Enjoy your life here in Wales and it was a good move meeting up with a Welshman.
ОтветитьSo happy to see you're doing well Ash!! Sending our best from NYC.
ОтветитьBest Wishes for your new life.
If you are looking for some help on coping with moving to the UK, living here as an expat and so on, I think the channel Adventures and Naps may be worth a look. Alanna, the host, is a Canadian who moved to southern England a few years ago. Amanda Rae may also be worth a look as an American who has lived here a bit longer. Likewise Yvettes Vibes is worth a look too for an Australians point of view.
Of the three I think Adventures and Naps will probably be the most helpful as she has had visa troubles of her own and had to go back to Canada when her Visa ran out and got stuck there for a while when the pandemic hit, she has done videos covering that and other brushes with the more official side of settling in a new country.
Again, best wishes for you and your partner.
A bit of romantic trivia. The gate you passed through on your walk that swings between two stops and you walk around the gate in an sort of enclosure, is known as a kissing gate. How it got its name is arguable. I like one old explanation that says that traditionally when a man and a woman meet one on each side of the gate, the price of one letting the other through as both couldn't pass at the same time, was the price of a kiss.
ОтветитьI am sure, this will be your turning point. It is a nice place. Hope things work good for you
ОтветитьWhy not Walse indeed, it's a nice Country. Even better if you're in love with someone who's Welsh.
ОтветитьGood luck to you! Hope you like rain!
To be fair wales in the sunshine is amazing, get up to the Mach Loop too to wave to your American friends 😊
Am from wales Swansea south wales
ОтветитьDefacto visa? Considering you are in a relationship and the reason you came to Wales. Getting sponsorship from company, including US company working remotely ,or person?
ОтветитьYou don't need a tourism visa as an American to stay in the UK for 6 months. By default that's how long you're allowed to stay as an American, you don't any stamp or visa for that.
ОтветитьI am not surprised you love Wales it is beautiful, I was shocked though at how old you are I am in shock, you do not look it
ОтветитьWales is magical. It has dragons!
ОтветитьSo when the visa runs out you have to leave🤣 can’t you get a permanent one to stay forever
ОтветитьYou look SO HAPPY! My mom moved to Wales several years ago and after personally visiting I can see why. Hope things are still going well<3
ОтветитьWell, you have ended up living in various places in the UK, in France...how about trying to make a life for yourself in the USA?
Or, as the saying has it, "East is East and West is West but Home is Best!" You are NOT meant for the International Life.
where do you buy Harvey's?
ОтветитьCroeso i Gymru / Welcome to Wales :)
ОтветитьGood For You!! 😊 Congratulations 🍾 Happy For You 😊
ОтветитьI hope you all the best for the future I'm english but I love wales so mutch history culture and varied scenery have a great time
ОтветитьWelcome to Wales
Ответитьyou're where i wanna be right now (: i fell in love with an amazing Welsh man online. i really want to move there with him but i am too young right now (i'm above the age of 18 but i just want/need more experience with the world). i'd love to spend 6 months with him <3 it would be absolutely amazing
ОтветитьHello hope you're settled in, and. Happy and well bless you.
ОтветитьThe wales not to choose but who you are,. .
ОтветитьI have been wanting to visit Wales for a few years. As a senior on a fixed income i wanted to know if i could afford it. I've been studying the language, can pronounce n sing songs and speaking but understanding others speak not so good. You are living my dream. Good luck to you.
ОтветитьMy husband is originally from Peru and moved to the UK exactly 20 years ago, He absolutely fell in love with Wales and its his dream to move there one day. I have to agree with him. Wales is stunning - so maybe one day? Good luck with everything.
PS my son wants to move to the States 😊😊
This can be a hard concept for a hard-driving female....
Basic principle: the Male pursues....an invite is insufficient evidence of a male's intentions. In fact, the male may recoil and pull back, in the face of an overeager female.
It's nice to see an American choose Wales over england for once 🙂
