I don't want to kill John Lennon 😅😅😅
ОтветитьOne of my top 3 books that I always recommend to people around me. Catcher in the Rye
Ответить"WHO WANTS FLOWERS WHEN YOU'RE DEAD? NOBODY."
- Holden Caulfield
“I am always saying "Glad to've met you" to somebody I'm not at all glad I met. If you want to stay alive, you have to say that stuff, though.”
ОтветитьI always looked at people who read a lot as ‘phony’; until a certain someone gave me her own copy of this classic back in dec ‘18.
It’s funny how it all changed when i finished reading it.
It felt as if my life story was being narrated from a third person POV.
Somehow, you feel at peace after reading this; at least that is what I felt. There’s a certain warmth to this classic that definitely makes you look at your own reflection.
I’m now a phony person in my own eyes. No week goes by without finishing a book.
All thanks to this.
Now writing this comment feels phony ( lol )
In J. D. Salinger’s own words :
“What really knocks me out is a book that, when you’re all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it.”
I’ve wished that on numerous occasions now. Thanks to this one classic.
Thanks vaani for such an insightful review on this book.... This book is very close to my heart..... The thing that i loved most about this book is the way it explains the slow effect of grief..... I lost someone very close to me at a very young age so i understood the conflicting personality of holden....... What made him so sensitive and what makes him a jerk at times..... This book is something that is gonna stay with me forever............ One more thing i love about it is that holden is a very human character.. Someone all teenager could relate to to some extent....... "I sort of miss everybody i told about. Even old stradlater and Ackley, for instance i think i even miss the goddamn Maurice. Its funny. Dont ever tell anybody anything. If you do, you start missing everybody".
ОтветитьVaani the way you are talking about this book really inspiring me to read it. I know I am a slow reader, abut I will come back here and comment my favourite part once I finish it😊. Keep on inspiring us👍
ОтветитьI'm quite illiterate, but I read a lot.
ОтветитьVaani ma'am please recommend ww1 and ww2 novels, even one or two will work.
I will be extremely thankful 🙏
Must read!
ОтветитьEveryone reads different book. I started getting my teenage memories dreams of the incidents when I was teenager i was in touch with that my version at 34 while I was in the process of reading this book.
ОтветитьBtw today is Arundhatis birthday could you make a video on her
ОтветитьDon't ever tell anybody anything. If you do, you start missing everybody.
Old Holden is the kinda guy who lies to middle-aged women on the subway about his brain tumors and regrets it later.
"Anyway, I'm sort of glad they've got the atomic bomb invented. If there's ever another war, I'm going to sit right the hell on top of it. I'll volunteer for it, I swear to God I will". -- One of my favs :D
ОтветитьI'm living in a parallel universe I'm just watched THUG NOTE of this book on the channel WISECRACK
ОтветитьWhen I leave a place I like to know I'm leaving it. If you don't you feel even worse.
ОтветитьHi Vani,
I have read this book after Dhruv said in your channel that he would recommend this book to every 21 year old. I am 21. It's a great read, it made me laugh so hard at times and there were times when I was also frustrated with Holden for being so critical. But what stands out is his brutal honesty and satire on the superficiality in society. Thank you for your insights. I am definitely going to read it again❤️
My favourite lines were "What really knocks me out is a book that, when you're all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn't happen much, though."
Love,
Vini
I just lovee her voice!!
Also she's like really pretty!
A beautiful review. Well done!
Ответитьimagine reading this book and killing john lennon😔
ОтветитьI just discovered your channel and I'm loving it. Thankyou.
ОтветитьI read that goddam book, boy was it depressing. I think you shouldn't read it, if you don't feel like it. If you do feel like it, then you are a phony fiend. And who cares about ducks?
Just kidding!! You will love it.
I just casually searched this book, as I was picking it up. To understand what I was getting into and I found a vani video about it.
Ответить"who says good luck when you are leaving its such depressing" ~ Holden. Boy, I could relate to this this line so goddamn well.
ОтветитьThe mark of the immature man is that he wants to die nobly for a cause, while the mark of the mature man is that he wants to live humbly for one.'"
ОтветитьI am damn sure she's nocturnal creature, look at those dark circles, even I got those lol, great video btw
ОтветитьI hate movies that can really ruin your mind
ОтветитьThere was a little kid standing next to me, with a cowboy hat on practically over his ears, and he kept telling his father, “Make him come out, Daddy. Make him come out." I looked at old Phoebe, but she wouldn’t laugh
ОтветитьThis book just killed me. It really did. Here you are with you goddam phony review. But then I'm crazy. I swear to god.
ОтветитьAmong other things, you'll find that you're not the first person who was ever confused and frightened and even sickened by human behavior. You're by no means alone on that score, you'll be excited and stimulated to know. Many, many men have been just as troubled morally and spiritually as you are right now. Happily, some of them kept records of their troubles. You'll learn from them—if you want to. Just as someday, if you have something to offer, someone will learn something from you. It's a beautiful reciprocal arrangement. And it isn't education. It's history. It's poetry.”
― J.D. Salinger, The Catcher in the Rye
Hola!
This is quite like CHETAN BHAGAT!
The brilliant speaker is of course i believe the lead lady in hotel opposite Salman Mammutty.
ОтветитьI've been wanting to read this book for so long, this finally gave me a push. And that passage was so intriguing
ОтветитьI bet most of us are here AFTER reading this book because we couldn't get enough of it.😂
Also....after watching this video, I have fallen in love with this girl.❤️
All you have to do is say something nobody understands and they'll do practically anything for you.
ОтветитьNope, nope, and NOPE! Catcher in the Rye is a useless piece of drivel disguised as a book that is not worth any rational person's time. Phillip Lopate's article "Philip Lopate is no fan of Catcher in the Rye" from the NY Times explains it well.
Just a few seconds of Tyrannosaurus yodeling>>>>>>>>Catcher in the Rye any day!
The first impression I got from reading this book is that it's funny – as in actually funny. I don't read too much but I would bet a character with the wit and dry humour shown by Holden is hard to come by, or not, like i said I don't read too much (I love stories but reading requires immense will power). To me, the entertainment value far surpass any deep analysis you might get from this book. The endearing inocent nature of the character is also a highlight and on the same note of strengths are the seemingly mean-spirited inner thoughts, and opinions.
P.s. Why do most people, talking about TCITR, tend to talk in a Holden-est way? I'm not immune to this either. I hate it, I really do.
He started handling my exam paper like it was a turd or something.
ОтветитьVery nice points. Thanks for this video! I enjoyed it a lot.
ОтветитьThe Catcher in the Rye as a classic makes me feel embarrassed for humanity... It's a bad book that people have projected their own issues into to create imaginary depth. Otherwise its empty of any redeeming qualities.
ОтветитьThanks for your concise and thought provoking commentary on a such a classic novel.
ОтветитьGood review
ОтветитьOmg, these eyes, this smile, this face 🤍
ОтветитьBoy is this a phony video.. 😁
Ответить"My big trouble is, I always sort of think whoever I'm necking is a pretty intelligent person. It hasn't got a goddmn thing to do with it, but I keep thinking it anyway" - Holden Caulfield
ОтветитьThis book killed me,it really did.
ОтветитьI am reading this book and its so engrossing about the daily life of Holden Caufield and one scene where Stradlater who gives Caufield an assignment while he goes on to date with Jane and somehow Holdon does the assignment on composition about his brother's baseball mitt but when his senior arrives, he only complains why he didn't do about a house description and with his angst, Caufield tears his assignment and complains. This is shown in every part of the reality in our world as ternagers suffer from a longing self of loneliness.🎉❤
ОтветитьMy favourite one is where he is pissed off about fu*k you written all over and also his tomb😂
