Turbulence seems scary, but it's also pretty harmless in modern aviation.
People are afraid that the plane will come apart or crash: but 99.999% of the time things are fine. That plane was built to take this kind of punishment, and worse.

Yes, sufficiently violent turbulence can cause structural damage, but we're talking hurricane winds, which passenger planes do not fly through.

Honestly, far and away your biggest risk in extreme turbulence is to fly out of your seat and hit your head on the overhead console. Now THAT has indeed killed people. So stay buckled up tight.

I'd have a heart attack. Thing to remember is planes are designed to deal with many times more force than they have to deal with, I came off a flight last night amd there was some moderate turbulence but hey we survived and landed no issue. Been on a plane multiple times and I still can't shake flight anxiety.

Generally soeaking, the pilots would not fly in conditions beyond the sircraft capabilities. So it's most likely not unsafe. Stay buckled up and enjoy the ride.

I had this last week coming f im brunie to Tokyo and it was overnight flight 6 hours and didn’t stop. Seat belt f most of the way. Awful

I remember an internal flight I caught from luxor to Cairo many years ago. The turbulence was so bad, the lady behind me was sobbing her eyes out. I was totally unfazed up until the point I glanced over to one of the crew who proceeded to put his hands together in prayer albeit with a smile on his face!

Instead of screaming and crying, they should’ve helped

Hoping they made it safe to their destination…phew!!! Turbulence can be quite extreme and I understand how scary it must be since I find that to be a trigger to my own anxiety…thankfully though it’s been a temporary one and the flights I’ve been on are properly handled well. 🙏🏽

I’m terrified of flying, even mild turbulence makes me extremely anxious. I mostly conquered my fear enough to actually get on planes by learning about planes, spending hundreds of hours in simulators and studying the external forces on planes that cause things like turbulence.

With all that said, adults who scream during turbulence are in the bottom rung of society.
