So glad Rosie turned up , I bet she's missed you
Ответить💕❤️😊🌞
ОтветитьLovely to see you Vivi but you look so hot! Putting Mum hat on: A straw hat would help with the heat and protect your skin from cancer! Also, don't forget to dispatch that snail in your cold frame! Hope you enjoyed that cold beer!
ОтветитьI've been watching your videos for ages now and I just want you to know that even if your new place has nothing but a sunny windowsill for a few herbs I will continue watching your journey 😊
ОтветитьLooks like you will have a garden after all Vivi. Your tomatoes look super healthy and ready to go. Lots of runaway Rosie drama on what looked like a sweltering hot day! Take it slowly as you are still on the mend and you will get there. I am sure you enjoyed that cold brew. The big reward will be when you board the train for your mini getaway! Stay well. 💕😘
ОтветитьYou have my weather. It's cold here, barely over 20 C. I've had horrible amounts of rain, so much that I'm afraid to direct seed. More rain in the forecast.
My brother died on Monday; his heart couldn't take his new cancer meds. I was really hoping he'd make it to his 73rd. birthday in July.
So I'll be glad to get my hands dirty in the garden to take my mind off things.
Enjoy that cold beer, Lovely, you earned it. I'm so glad Rosie is OK.

Eastern USA is having dreadful heat also .Mid 90's and growing is at a stand still .
ОтветитьI don’t do well in heat, but sometimes, as for you these days one can’t help but be out in it to get done what needs doing. My trick is to soak my top and my sunhat very thoroughly with water. Wearing wet clothes lowers my body temperature at least until the sun dries them.
ОтветитьYou've still got a fair few plants to make up a pretty good garden. I know you don't need any advice, but just know that we're out here cheering you on. Good luck, and keep well, Vivi! PS. Happy that Rosie turned up and is ok.
ОтветитьPlease try to get to the garden early of the morning .
ОтветитьOh my goodness Vivi…I don’t function at all in heat..hence being up at this time of night! What a nightmare but great recovery plans, you will do it I’m sure. Just take care not to overdo it. I have my virtual fork out and am with you all the way. Hope you enjoyed the beer…I would be inclined to forget the beer and put me self in the fridge!!😁😻❤️🙏
ОтветитьWell, I haven't even watched 3 seconds, but it's already a good start because I see a smile!! Anyways, what do we say? Let's get stuck in? or something british haha.
ОтветитьSo weird that the UK is in a heatwave.
We’ve had no Spring in W. Canada, everything is growing huge because of the cool and rainy days.
I’m chopping and cutting back every week to keep it all in check.
If I was designing a new allotment garden, I would make each plot a square or a circle, each with a wee shed and a water tank or tap right in the middle of each.
Or, a half circle and every two would share a water tank or tap between two half circles.
Much less walking!
In an ideal world......😏
You still have lots of crops, and I’m sure your direct sowing will yield plenty in time.
Take it easy , keep cool, and I hope that beer was delicious! 🍻
Great to see Rosie🥳
ОтветитьIt sounds like the whole world is having a heatwave. Here on the gulf coast in the southern United States, we have heat advisories and predicted record-breaking temperatures upon us. We will reach 101 deg f with the heat index which equates to 115 deg f. It's unbearable! Power Bill this month was already up to $272.59 before the heat wave struck. No telling how much it will be next month but I can't survive without the air conditioning so I just pay for it.
Ответить👍😊❤️
Ответить❤️ Take good care.
ОтветитьGood to see you back in the garden , there are good things to come still and the cat stayed away because you did….naughty cat! Glad to hear you have a plan, I would just wait for this weekends rain to soften the ground for you.
ОтветитьHi lovely Vivi, its so lovely to see you out and about after the horrible covid... I'm so pleased Rosie turned up yay!! 😃 It's so sad to see some of your plants shrivelled however on the positive side you do have quite a few that look good to create a beautiful food garden.. Please take good care and don't forget to sit and enjoy your space in the garden too.. 😊❤️
ОтветитьWe broke heat records most of May and now also for June.🥵
It sounds like you have a plan for getting everything under control.👍🏼
I hope Rosie made it home to her human.
😉💗💗🤞🏼
So glad Rosie has been seen and is well. I had a missing cat episode this week - one of my cats went walkabout last Saturday (11th) and didn't come home at night. He is a very friendly cat and I know he visits other houses but he is always back after a couple of hours but no sign of him all Sunday either.. So I spent 3 days walking roind the area, in thie blazing sunshine, knocking on doors and putting posters up. I asked at the allotments as well as but he was nowhere to be found. Then Thursday morning he came home - a bit skinny (for him), a bit vocal and very thirsty. I have a feeling he maybe got shut in a shed, or garage, but so far he's not telling. He has been very loath to be more than a few inches away from me since then, which is ort of lovely but a bit sweaty at the moment. Glad to hear you sounding so positive despite the recent setbacks in the garden and with your health, and I hope the beer was greatly enjoyed.
ОтветитьI have one baby pepper plant from seed offered from Venezuela!!!!!! I have been waiting for three weeks! I nearly gave up on them and throw the whole thing away. happy happy hot but happy! one plant and your life is turn back the right way up.
ОтветитьI feel your pain, everything of mine has been munched. I had 40 tomatoes now have 5 , all salads gone squash not doing well. With the weeds I just want to cry 😢
ОтветитьNew viewer here. Is there a reason why you didn't choose no dig? So much easier on your body.
ОтветитьRosie Rosie Rosie , come back, you know there is some grub at Vivi's shed. Miaou. Great News!!!!!
ОтветитьMy goodness you have a large plot. Annoying when things get munched. Pleased Rosie came back.
ОтветитьOur Dear Viv! You can do it! A girl with a plan!
ОтветитьYou win some. You lose some. 😭 I can't help but laugh at the fact that the parsnips are growing like crazy. My heart burst when you lifted the shade netting up to reveal the bounty in the cold frame.
How did the snails and slugs get under the tule covering?
Thank goodness Rosie was found🤗 Isn't this weather just murderous?? 🥵🥵 Just do what you can do, Vivi...Cheers🍺
ОтветитьOh my goodness Vivi, I feel your disappointment. Our summer is two months behind following record cold temps and rainfall. It is what it is: some years in the garden are “rest” years. Everyone at our allotment is behind and replanting nibbled or cold damaged starts. I’m already planning fall crops. I’m on my third year of no dig and this is the only reason I have ANYTHING growing. You are right that it’s more costly to do no dig and it can be quite an effort to get materials to site. Much w we easier to do at home. I’m glad the cat came back! Thanks for sharing the tour!💚💜🌸
ОтветитьWow - you work so hard for your food. I admire your efforts. You have a real way with the garden while I seem to only be good at growing grass and elephant ears. Although, weeds seem to thrive around me too. 🥹
ОтветитьJust do the next thing. We love and support you.
ОтветитьDear Vivi please be careful. You have a good community in your allotment could you enlist their help and support to get your garden done? Or don’t people do that? Xx
ОтветитьI am so pleased Rosie has turned up. Maybe she was sulking because you hadn't been to the plot for a while. Anyways all was well in the end and your garden will look lovely again very soon but don't over do it.
ОтветитьYay re Rosie! 👍 Oh those poor Gigantes and Churchill Black... will you resow? Do you have anough seed? 🤔 Isn't it funny how your onions are like your two rows of double broad beans - some rows fine and others just next door not doing so well. 🤔 Good re-organising between beans, squash and cucs. 👍 God, I am not going to moan our our beans anymore... that is a such a disappointment re the CdP... 😬 Yay for the chickpeas!! 👍 Ah, yes all our Roquencourt are gone, and I am in fact resowing today in pots. 🤞 Yay for the parsnips!! That is decent germination, especially with the refills. 👍 We are finding the tomatoes being munched across the site this year, and several people at the Hanwell Carnival said similar. 🤔 Oh, must harvest blueberries today so thanks for the reminder! 👍 Those tomatoes are looking very decent. 👍 My tomatoes are pretty much unknown now due to me not being clear on labelling... ☹️ Ah, you will be resowing the beans. 🤞👍🤞 Good replanning. 🤗🤗🤗
ОтветитьAwesome update Vivi slowly catching up
ОтветитьThe plot looks as if it needs some deep watering. And mulching.
Here in Australia,that's a priority..
I have 1/4 acre. And there is always plenty to do..
I'm 75 ... good luck...
you will have new begingings one day
Ответитьlovely colours ofsweat peas
ОтветитьTake your time. Hour here and rest, then another hour and so on. Have a calm cool week.
Ответитьgarden still looks great! Slugs this years have been awful.
ОтветитьGreat to hear the plan Vivi. We have had such a hot spell. Well done Gary - St garry saves the day again!
ОтветитьHi Vivi, just wanted to share that I have a small paved back garden so everything is in pots... for my birthday I asked for a metal garden arch which I have constructed to stand in two deep window boxes... I direct sowed eight giganti beans and seven came up and are away so hope you can get yours going too xxx
ОтветитьYay!! We're all 'rooting' for you Vivi!! (See what I did there? 😂😂) I needed a lie down just listening to all the work you have to do! But, as you say, you can only do what you can. Big hugs! 💖
ОтветитьHi Vivi. I think the garden looks amazing.
It’s like the garden is talking to you and understanding how you are feeling. And yet still it’s blessing you with some food.
Life happens and you just gotta roll with it some days.
Hang on to your dreams.
Lovely to see you wearing your summer glow 🥰😆😆😆
Big hugs xx
Wow beautiful Garden 😍

& Welcome to my channel ~~
Wow Vivi! I think I have the same soil as you. I tried to stake a Hydrangea and my stake bent. I hope in the end you get to harvest enough food for the year. Hugs & Blessings!
ОтветитьI hear you Vivi! I’m playing catch up in my veg garden too. It’s been so hot and dry and windy in the Midwest. And I’ve been dealing with recovering from heat stroke as well recovering from the flare up of my RA that getting the heat stroke caused.
I’m exhausted and so disheartened from the plant losses. I’m replanting whatever I can. We’ll be okay hopefully. Once things are in the ground the heat will make them jump. Fingers and toes crossed!
I am off to weed and try to sow some beans... the seed is two years old already, so I don't want to save it another year. Worth a try? And I will take what I get at this point. Pancreatitis, then long cold spring with lots of other things going, we lost a favorite mare and had to save her foal who is off with a fostermama, thank God, but... just too much. Plus expanding the garden and making mound beds from hell for backs and knees... (we have old roofing tin, for next year, and plans... but this year is not so much fun.) We all have things don't we? Life is never easy or straight forward, not really. I guess the trick is to flow with it, adjust and keep on, keep being strong as one can and keep on? So, when you talk about your difficulties, and I know you have been VERY ill...I never landed in hospital... so I thank my lucky stars for that one... but I nod and agree and I really am cheering you on... off to work now. Hot and humid here today! Past midsummer... oh my word... is it even worth... well, if I don't throw the seed in the ground, it will go to waste, and if I do and I get some tiny green beans or wax beans to eat, well then... worth it. And it is an empty bed due to failures, So, I will just go for it. Ok, Vivi... hang in there! We can do this, YOU can do this, and you inspire me to keep going every day. 🍀🥰🤞🏻(Even with giving up the garden, you are still going to keep on going, doing what needs doing... it is about the spirit of the thing, I mean, when I say inspiration.) Best, Lynne
