With Trump wanting to put tariffs on all imports it makes sense that they would want to get everything shipped and on sale before everything goes up in prices for us in the USA. We are a huge part of their sales and with the tariffs on consoles being upwards of $250 each it would hurt their numbers badly!

An announcement in January and then the release in March would be quite ballsy of them, they'd have likely communicated with stores about it ahead of time if that is the case and it still leaves space to build up the hype for it. I'm not locked in on this but I can see them doing it too.

I will say, Nintendo has technically already announced their next console. While it’s not a large reveal/announcement, we’ve known for some time we’ll see the Switch 2 before March 2025.

If you think about this for more than 5 seconds, it's silly to assume a company as big as Nintendo wouldn't be able to successfully market something like this within just 2 and a half months when that's something they've already done with a lot of their games. Hell, it's something Sony and Microsoft do with their new systems too. You don't need 6 months to do these things, because it'll catch the attention of casual consumers very quickly, and those consumers WILL eventually buy the system. Remember, they didn't start marketing the Switch until after the January 2017 presentation, and it still ended up selling like hotcakes.

I don't think the idea is as ridiculous as it sounds. Nintendo fans have been jonesing for a more powerful Switch for YEARS already. The community is ready for new hardware, it won't take much to convince them to hop on the day one bandwagon.
