If the Chechens go to war, Putin will need to divert troops from Ukraine and border protection to control the situation. The thinning of the lines may allow ukrainians to get bolder and press for Moscow, gnawing support for Putin, that'll have to reinforce Moscow's "policing", further allowing the war to become a dire situation, with ukrainian attacks on refineries strangling the Russian economy and the coziness of moscovites. That may lead to a mass conscription and THEN there could be pockets of resistance that MAY cause internal struggles... That's not the same as a civil war, but that can haste the end of Putin's regime if he doesn't have an ally in the White house.
