I believe the Word Maharashtra comes from the Rashtrakuta Dynasty which defeated an invading Caliphate. Some of the Greatest Warriors of Bharat comes from that region as well as the South.

Instead of teaching Mughal History, the History of the Gurjara-Pratihara Dynasty, the Chalukya Dynasty, Rajputana, the Maratha Empire, the Vijayanagara Empire, the Ahom Dynasty, the Sikh Empire etc should be taught in our Schools and Colleges.
