i just copped some 2 gal mean green, cheers!
ОтветитьI'd be interested in knowing what, after 3 years of making this video, is your go to now in 2022 for cleaning.
ОтветитьThe Direct smell tests are my favorite part🤣 Try ammonia next time
ОтветитьWHere can I find this "isopropinal" alcohol?
😁
With simple green are people diluting it with water and if so what ratio or just keeping it straight. Concentrated simple green?
ОтветитьGreat video and as always full of great content. Question, do you think with an agitator in a 5 gallon bucket and using Mean Green I would get similar results? I've been using my Jupiter quite a bit and the prints are a good size. Didn't want to add an ultrasonic cleaner at this point, maybe later on down the road. Thank you
Ответить"Isopropanol alcohol" 😆 it's pronounced "Isopropyl Alcohol"... small thing but kinda fingernails on a chalkboard for me... I need to take a valium LOL😉
Ответитьdid you use these neat? or with water added?
Ответитьyou left out a very important detail... were all these prints printed on the same plate in the same run, because the IPA test looks a hell of a lot like cold or dirty resin more than ineffective rinsing.
ОтветитьVery interesting-been using IPA, will have to check out alternatives. THANKS!
ОтветитьSo it’s 3yrs later. Just curious if you are still using Mean Green or did you go back to IPA?
ОтветитьDo not use Isopropyl in ultrasonic cleaners. It is incredibly dangerous and toxic. Every single ultrasonic cleaner on the market comes with a warning label not to use flammable liquids EVER, and there is good reason for that. The vibration causes atomization of the liquid at the surface, filling the air with flammable gasses, and inducers create sparks. So any heat vent on the ultrasonic is a huge fire just waiting to happen.
Worse, is that IPA when vaporized causes permanent damage to the cilia in your lungs. We're talking permanent lung damage. While ethanol will only temporarily disable them, IPA kills them.
You won't notice at first, but unless you're wearing an organic vapor mask, and have forced air venting, after a few years you're gonna be looking at COPD or cancer. Better off smoking 4 packs of cigarettes a day by the numbers. It's incredibly, incredibly bad.
This is also why IPA should never be used in sprays or airbrushes.
If you don't burn your house down, you can look forward to lung cancer.
DO NOT DO IT.
Wash your minis in IPA only in an enclosed container, then after that treatment, yes, you can use non IPA containing products like a solution of Simple Green and water to do the last stuff pretty safely. I'd still consider a mask or well ventilated area. But IPA in an ultrasonic is bad, bad, bad news, and for some reason NOBODY reads the materials handling sheets for it, or the safety instructions that come with an ultrasonic. They are there for your protection.
We want you in the hobby, and healthy for a long, long, long time. Please do not put IPA into an ultrasonic.
I used to work for a cleaning company, we had a contract with a chain of clinics, and they loved it when we used that Mr Clean cleaner for their floors. It's been a long time since I've worked for them, and I still buy and use that cleaner for my floors. The smell is heavenly.
ОтветитьFML... watching this video now and comparing the prices from back then to now... the wallet hurts lol
ОтветитьPeople use ipa cause one it is self dry and faster indoor
ОтветитьMaybe I didn't look far down enough in the comments but a lot of ultrasonic cleaners have heaters....do not heat IPA! If it was mentioned in the video...I missed it.
ОтветитьDo you heat or no heat with the ultrasonic cleaner?
ОтветитьI've been using spiritus during covid as IPA was impossible to get and it worked quite well. It just smells
ОтветитьThis is awesome just got a resin printer and was wondering if there was anything better than IPA. Thanks
ОтветитьI have one of the Phrozen cleaning and curing station and it's not supersonic, would the mean green work with that as well?
ОтветитьI’m even using Simple Green with my water washable resin. I’ve diluted it about half with water. Seems to clean better than just plain water. After the SG bath I put the prints in plain water as a final rinse.
ОтветитьI'd like to use the simple green, while listening to simply red, or deep purple
ОтветитьIm abit late to this, but would the alternative products such as mr clean work for cleaning the build plate aswell or only the prints?
ОтветитьHow does this video hold up today? Still the same recommendation?
Ответитьsoooo I will definitely be using simple green lol I buy it in 5 gallon buckets already so its definitely going to be my go to
ОтветитьUsing only 91% IPA? Resin manufacturers tell you to use 95+%.
ОтветитьAcrylic Thinner best way and quick to clean the resin to the figure no sticky.. then use wash it with liquid soap..
ОтветитьHey Jessy just curious if you have tried any of the other versions of mean green yet may I suggest a video comparison of the different versions of mean green to see what works best ? Mean green is a rustoleam product the have a few different variants on there website
ОтветитьSo recycling the cleaners? UV them and filter? Or just use XX amount of times and properly dispose of it?
ОтветитьAwesome job, and thanks for the video! But for the sake of making more videos, promise me you won't just go and stick your nose into a bottle of cleaner to sniff it ever again! Wave the scent towards your nose, don't just dive in and huff! Otherwise, thanks again for your effort and keep up the great work!
Ответитьis isopropyl safe in an Ultrasonic cleaner ??
ОтветитьIm curious how well these products work with one of those dedicated print cleaning vats with a spinning blade to stir the IPA.
ОтветитьSo have you abandonned IPA since making this video? I only ask as it has been a while and I too am looking to move away from IPA to an alternative.
ОтветитьI wonder at what point you can dilute any of these cleaners while still maintaining the cleaning power?
ОтветитьThis is terrible advice. Mean Green is ETHANOL mixed with LYE. It will destroy galvanized containers. Do not use it in an ultrasonic cleaner. It atomizes which is a fire hazard. I hope you didn't put someone in the hospital. Read the Safety Data Sheet! DO THE HOMEWORK.
ОтветитьNEVER PUT IPA OR ANY COMBUSTIBLE LIQUID IN AN ULTRASONIC CLEARNER!!!
You run a SERIOUS RISK of fire or worse an explosion!
Should also try purple power.
Ответить🇨🇦/🇺🇸... PLEASE SERIOUSLY NOTE: RZ Masks DO NOT protect from the FUMES of "Volatile Organic Compounds" like those from Resin. Think about it. A "filter" that filters PARTICULATES is only going to clean the particulates out of the fumes that you continue to breath in! In other words, it filters any gasses that you breathe in HOWEVER, you are still breathing in those gasses/fumes! You need to get a National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) RESPIRATOR... not just a filter. For resin 3D printing, the 3M 60921 or 60926 cartridges are recommended. The 60926 provides the widest range of protection, but the 60921 is a good alternative!
ОтветитьApologies, I was trying to find a link for where you got that mask? I'd like to get one for my husband. Thank you! This video helped a lot because we couldn't get IPA in out area without it being super expensive
ОтветитьHey @UncleJessy, do you have an update on this topic?
Ответитьi know it's many many years later, but it would have been interesting to also have tried cleaning it with water for comparison of how much cleaning action the ultra sonic itself had, versus the actual cleaners.
ОтветитьHow would you dispose of the resin tainted cleaning solution? With alcohol you just let it evaporate in teh sun and throw away the hardened left over resin. I also would like to know how well this works without an ultrasonic cleaner and just using a brush with some of this cleaner? I ask because I use an old toothbrush and IPA to clean my prints currently and swapping to something cheaper and less would be great.
ОтветитьWhere are those ultrasonic cleaners for $50? They start from $130😂
ОтветитьHas your cleaning work flow changed since this video? How do you dispose of dirty cleaning liquids vs IPA?
ОтветитьHave you tried La’s Totally Awesome and done a comparison with Mean Green? I know the Totally Awesome is $1.25 at dollar tree and heard it’s pretty comparable to Mean Green.
Ответитьsince this video has been posted what are your recommendations for others? or if you still use one of these agents after 5 years how relevant are these results?
ОтветитьSo you no longer recommend Mean Green according to the follow on video to this one?
ОтветитьI don't know why it bugs me so much when he says "IsopropaNol Alcohol".... Its isopropyl There is no N in that word... lol
Ответитьthe only thing thats missing is water as a control
Ответить
