Time....feelings special...yes that's the luxury I want....yes I gonna go to a smaller boutique...these one near the café de Flore...thanks again love xoxo💕
ОтветитьHow would One purchase haute couture from Chanel? I mean... can you just go in to the boutique and say "I have 200k, I'm going upstairs to the haute couture level" or do you need some sort of established relationship with an SA and get 'referred' or invited to the haute couture?
ОтветитьI am not surprised at all. It is CHANEL ground zero at 31 Rue Cambon. Of course it is a Fashion Tourist destination. The DISNEYLAND of CHANEL if you will. Of course they are under pressure and they must get a lot of Lookie-Loos. There is no "off season" for that CHANEL like there is for Europe in the Winter. Personally I would go to the CHANEL at 51 Avenue Montaigne where I might have a better chance of connecting. But then maybe not. It is Paris after all and Coco Chanel haunts the city for sure. But I have found that for me in Pairs a real smile and a bonjour madame comment allez-vous? goes a long long way in warming up the Parisians.
For me, The places I have found the magic of CHANEL and real and personal connections are at my old CHANEL boutique in San Francisco on Maiden Lane and at the CHANEL counter at Neiman Marcus in SF. Even when they didn't know me in the beginning I was treated like a star. ChanelLV and Farah said it was because I am a man and at 6'3 very imposing one. Yet I don't think that is it. I think it is because I treated the SA's with GREAT RESPECT and no demands.
In any case when I make it to 31 and this time go in (I only walked past the last time..."What?") I will smile, say hello and expect nothing special in return and thus leave the door open to be surprised.
I studied abroad for 1 semester in Paris and it was a dream, I got to go to 31 rue cambon and have pictures taken in cocos' stairscase, the SA that helped me was slightly stuck up but she did try to be nice. it did feel slightly rushed but maybe i went at a time where it wasn't too crowded. i am not rich by any means so i just bought a bottle of bleu de chanel and i loved it. and yes haha the waiting room to pay was not the best part.
ОтветитьHi Dacob! I also love Chanel and went to 31, Rue Cambon when I was in Paris last April. I now realize that I was lucky on that Friday afternoon because the boutique was quite empty when I arrived. A SA was quick to assist me and showed me some trays of their costume jewelry patiently although I only had a rough idea of what I could buy. But I immediately fell in love with a pair of two beautiful little golden rings (one with the CC and one with the camelia flower) in a solid quality and for a reasonable price. I was so happy about that because I had looked for a nice Chanel ring for years! When I got the bag with my item (I also had to wait in the "waiting room" before I could pay but there was just one customer before it was my turn) my SA even offered me to show me around the boutique so I could have a quick look at the other areas. When we passed the bag department I saw a crowd of young people there, so it finally turned out where most of the customers of that afternoon actually were! 😂 As I was also allowed to take photos at the famous staircase I fortunately had a very nice experience in that boutique! 😍
Go on with your excellent videos! 👏 Many greetings from Germany!
Omg this boutique sounds like the ladies LV department in Harrods, have you shopped here. Unless you're buying 10 bags and an exotic they literally don't care. The men's LV department is a much nicer experience. xx
ОтветитьThis was sooooo the experience I had buying my GST XL in London New Bond Street in 2015. Got an SA a guy not that that matters and I gave him the low down on what I want had the code and all btw u gave me the product number ;) guy gave me first the look 👀 from sneakers to hat 🎩 kind of are u sure??? 😒😕😏 at that point wanted to just leave... I mean who trains that personal. My partner was with me and she saw the look 👀 also so not making this up. I inspected the bag true and true and before I finished he already was trying to hurry me on. He was not really persuaded a sale will happen. Only when I said we taking it. Guys face lit up like a new person jumped out of him. 😲 honestly annoyed me... then he took me to the waiting / here u pay room offering snacks and coffe etc... not digging that. Payed the bag and we left. Was buying a brooch and an card holder later at Selfridges CHANEL that same day. Night and day difference. Kind SA helpful, did not push gave good advice... I have feeling it's worse at the big boutiques.... great 👍 video D. Thx again!
ОтветитьExposed!!!! Come on luxury drama channel lol
ОтветитьGreat video Dacob and it will save many people from bitter disappointment.Rest In Peace our Wonderful David Bowie,so dearly missed,Xoxoxo.
ОтветитьDear Dacob, I believe that one of the main reasons not to take out more than 3 products out at a time is security related. As for time allocated per client as well, ideally, to give more time to customers, you would need more staff...but they won't do it so...different strategies are put in place unfortunately. ;)
ОтветитьThanks Dacob, so good to understand the process. Expectations will be low and I do hope one day to see 31 Rue Cambon.
ОтветитьWell, that took the romance out of my fantasy of shopping there. 😉 Nonetheless, I will consider your advice of keeping the expectations low to be surprised, if I ever shop there. By the way, red suits you!
Ответитьohh that was a topic I was interested in for a long time. 👍🏻
"supermarket" 😂 😂😂
I totally agree with the kind of atmosphere you can have in Chanel location at Rue Cambon... I think it is very similar to the flagship at 57th street in NYC, or some Super luxurious stores in Singapore or the one in Beverly Hills because of all the Super notorious and important people shopping there. I think to take your time, I Guess Chanel store in Luxembourg, the one in Stockholm or the ones in Bangkok have more peaceful experience to offer. I think especially to the stores of Calgary in Canada, maybe Vancouver or Brisbane in Australia too. Because the store is brand new and Super hip in Amsterdam I think in the opposite it may be more crowded. About stores I've been in Tokyo I felt a little neutral about it, it seems to be very discreet. I am wondering if they actually have about the most exclusive customers there ? I even wondered if they could speak other language than Japanese so discretely it was.
ОтветитьCould it be characteristic of flagship stores? The Cartier boutique comes to mind, whether it's Rue de la Paix, 5th Ave or Rodeo drive. Perhaps a certain "hauteur" is called for or to be expected among the SA's...
ОтветитьI will go one day...to be a tourist. 😊📸 Have a fab weekend handsome! 😘😘😘Sandy
ОтветитьI literally jumped when I saw this because I went to Cambon last week and was very disappointed.not only it isn't romantic anymore but the SA didn't know her products and can be bitchy. I was looking at brooch and saw one that peeked my interest but it was too big and asked if she had it in a smaller size. She said they didn't exist. Well...either she lied, or she didn't know (which is worse knowing it was the current collection). I did not buy it because I didn't like it and I could see she was bothered that I left without anything. What you said is SO TRUE. Only go there when you are sure (which happened when I got my flap bag) but otherwise, it does feel like an overconsumption. And who can blame them. I saw people coming there and purchasing things in 30 seconds (mainly Asian tourists). They are busy with those, so they don't care about the real service. I did purchase the brooch in the size I wanted at the Galerie Lafayette, where they were surprisingly nicer and less stressed (the secret is to go in the morning). Overall, when I compare my experience at Chanel and Dior, Dior wins hands down!
ОтветитьI was there in December and I agree with you entirely. I was very disappointed.
ОтветитьLove the flash. How often do you go toParis Hugs and love and kisses
ОтветитьDear Dacob, (i want to say sorry for my english in advance beacuse i'm italian and my writing ability is pretty low).
i wanted to ask a question to you:i'm a big fan of moschino and i love jeremy scott pop inspiration but because i'm still in highschool i will not be able to purchase any luxury good until i will work, so i wanted to ask if there is a sort of mainstream company that has a similar inspiration to jeremy's work and it's affordable.
i also want to thank you for your amazing videos
michele
were you in your local chanel boutique or you talking about the one in Paris when you purchased your sunglasses? i heard 10/10 the SA are very helpful and nice in 31 rue camdon boutique store.
ОтветитьThat hairstyle looks awesome on you
ОтветитьI've given up on the Chanel Boutiques. The last time I was in the boutique in Beverly Hills the experience was awful. We were there to purchase 4 bottles of Extrait, but the SA had never heard of them, wouldn't look up from her phone to look us in the eye, and engage in any way at all. When we asked to speak with the manager, she replied "I don't know if he's here". Ugh it was as if someone had hired a Christmas SA whose only credentials were A.) blonde and B.) a quintessential "Valley Girl". Ugh. Never again.
ОтветитьDo you know if you can buy chanel sycomore online cause i cant find it ANYWHERE😰😰😰
ОтветитьDacob! I know you said you were going to stop purchasing new products but I just wanted to know where you stand with Adidas? And their take on luxury? They're releasing those beautiful tracksuit pants in collaboration with Calabasas and Kanye West! The price is probably too high for it being an adidas sweatpant (at 200.00 retail) I just wanted to know your thoughts on this?
ОтветитьI absolutely agree with everything you've said about the Rue Cambon boutique. I love, however, the Frankfurt one. The SAs are lovely, I had two of them talking to me - one being the "main" SA and the other one kinda standing by chatting to me me and my mum whilst we were waiting for the other one to bring us the bags we wanted to look at. Mind you this was a on a Friday late afternoon right before Christmas. I was so, so pleasantly surprised after seeing the mess that London and Paris boutiques, in particular Rue Cambon, are.
I'm not sure if it's just me, but I'd rather not have that "special" (lol yeah) white carrier bag and have a pleasant shopping experience instead. Rather go to boutiques in different countries which are less busy and you will most likely have a fab experience.
Love the tribute to Bowie. Good advice about lowering expectations of the boutique x
ОтветитьThanks for sharing this, Nice take 💕
Ответитьdid this location carry cosmetics as well? thank you!!
ОтветитьI visited 31 Rue Cambon last year and I felt exactly like you describe it. Like shopping in a supermarket. I waited for an SA to serve me and felt actually bad because I was wasting her time I felt since I wasn't going to buy a bag right there and then. Of course I told the SA that and explained I wanted to see the difference of the Jumbo and the Medium on me. She was very polite and brought them both to me, always with a smile but I really felt guilty taking up on someone else's time so I left very fast and didn't even check around as it was too crowded and I wouldn't like the experience anyway.
ОтветитьJust love you new subscriber from Ireland.
ОтветитьI was in Paris in July and was so disappointed in my experience. Having been to Paris multiple times but never to 31 Rue Cambon, it was the thing I was most looking forward to during this trip. My SA is like what you described. He practically threw the tray of SLGs at me and wouldn't take me to THE steps, despite agreeing to earlier (the woman in the cashier's cubicle was friendlier than him). Luckily, the security guard saw me peeking in, let me in to take multiple pictures and was so pleasant as I was geeking out! At least I got my picture and white shopping bag, so it was still a special experience.
Heading to Milan and Venice in two weeks, which is the best Chanel boutique to visit? Would love to try out some of the Les Exclusifs! Thank you for always sharing your wisdom and insight with us! I always love seeing a new video of yours pop up! xoxo
This is probably an apples and oranges comparison (or maybe it isn't). I stepped into Dior for the first time last week. Unparalled customer service, even if you're just window shopping. My sister and I were immediately offered something to drink right after I asked about the different sizes (water, orange juice, apple juice, even champagne. Settled for water). The SA was extremely approachable and knowledgeable. I was interested in the Lady Dior, particularly the mini and classic medium sizes. One Lady Dior at the top of my wishlist is in patent true red with silver hardware. I didn't specifically mention this as I was really focused on deciding which size I felt was right for me. He asked me if I liked red when I tried on a mini Lady in a bright orange-red (I replied yes) and he then took more red bags off the display shelves to show me (including a gorgeous red Diorama, which I had no interest in but appreciated that he thought I could have been). He took the time to explain the sizes, and the leathers, etc. He rarely required prompting and when he felt that he had exhausted me with options and overloaded me with information, he offered me his name card so if I ever needed anything I could just send him a Whatsapp or a call. He could check if they had what I was looking for in store or if they didn't, they could transfer it from another store that had stock.
I went to Chanel right after to see if they had any Reissue wallets and my experience was a slight let down. I knew specifically which type of wallet I was looking for (Black Reissue long flap) but I didn't specify as I wanted to look at options. He asked which type of wallet. Reactively, I replied leather, but he responded with asking me a zipped wallet or a flap wallet. Again, I insisted on seeing what was available. I would not know what I like until I've seen it. It's not that the SA was rude or anything (perhaps it was just his personality). He kept quiet while I looked at the only Reissue wallets they had (one zipped, one flap, both chevron). He required prompting and his answers were very limited to the specific product. He didn't extrapolate at all. Was I interested in a specific colour? Perhaps I could take a look at their Classic flap wallets? I wanted to know more. I wanted him to give me more. There was just no tempo whatsoever. Really, I couldn't stand the awkwardness and so I just took one final circuit around the store and left.
All in all, it felt like Chanel was selling a single product with Chanel tacked on to it while Dior was selling youthe experience of luxury at Dior. The customer service itself is a selling point. You're exactly right on that point about time being a luxury. Looking back, we were offered a drink at Dior because it would take a while (and to soften me up). But that's exactly what I loved about the experience. It's not as if Chanel was brimming with people. There were plenty of SAs around just doing their own thing. I know there's a magical SA out there who I can connect with but really, it's not as if I have the time and resources to hunt for that luxury experience. It should be waiting for me right when I walk into the store. I still love Chanel but I feel as though I have to come prepared with a battle strategy all on my own.
My luv, I'm watching this like a millennia after you posted! But I have to tell you that my Chanel obsessed friend and I were in Paris three years ago and she dragged me with her to that store. I am not a big fashion connoisseur by ANY means (I'm learning so much from you!), and at the time I was even worse than I am now! SO... they were getting ready to close, and we decided to leave. As we were walking out, we saw a black Bentley parked in front of the store with the trunk open and the chofer stuffing it with luxury brands shopping bags. My friend noticed right away and said "WOW. Who can afford all that?!", to which I replied "I guess that old man walking away with his body guard behind him....". It turns out that "old man" was Karl Lagerfeld himself!! HAHAHAHAHAH my friend LOSSSTTT ITTTT she started jumping up and down, screaming "it's Karl! It's Karl!" and, believe it or not, started crying out of excitement. As I mentioned before, at the time, I had no ideaaaa who Karl was haha, so I just told her "yeye, go take a picture with him! Get close, I gotcha!". But his body guard made a hand gesture like "shoo shoo" haha so we didn't get the pic (or we did, but it was blurry, I can't remember). Anyway! Sorry for the long paragraph, I hope you get to read it! I figured I'd share this with somebody who would appreciate the story and poke fun of my ignorance! Big hug, my luv!!
This is a fantastic video and good to know! I am trying to talk my husband into another trip to Paris (you know Americans are a little scared of terrorism right now). I think I will still visit 31 Rue Cambon, but it will most likely be a one time trip. I met a guy in Vegas who goes to the fashion shows and has been in Coco's apartment. VERY interesting guy!
ОтветитьWhen in Paris, I shell have a very casual walk by this store and enjoy watching the fashion tourists fly in and out the store. The main shopping experience for me will be the Vuitton flagship store on the Champs-Élysées (where I myself will be a fashion tourist) I have screen captured all the items I intend on purchasing,so hopefully I'll have a pleasant experience (but I know the store will be very, very busy) my thoughts are to buy the things I know I'm going for - once that's complete, I can then take a more leisurely stroll around the store & not worry about pressure.
ОтветитьIn your opinion, where is the best place/city/street to go for an attentive or traditional luxury shopping experience with excellent range of products? :D
ОтветитьDacob you are spot on with regards to Rue Cambon, especially in the 'payment cubicle', as you put it. But let me tell you the worst experience is easily in the Sydney boutiques, each and every one. I've walked in (ok, with my jumbo even) and waited at their counters where the SAs almost regard clients with contempt and such disregard that's it's enough to stop me going in to these stores altogether. Melbourne, in another Australian state) is a welcoming experience though. The variation is interesting to say the least lol. Anyway, as always you're so straight to the point and I appreciate it, thank you xxoo
Ответитьlove 31 rue cambon fragrance- bought mine is 2007 as well as no 22, cuir de russi and bois de iles
ОтветитьThis is so true. I just came back from Paris and 31 Rue Cambon was packed. Yes, it is big and magical and everything you ever dream of but they are so busy. You have to wait for an SA in a line. I waited 20 mins for an SA, turns out they didn't have the classic flap size I wanted. She quickly told me the closest Chanel to go and see them. I did so and had a better experience to the one I was sent to; less people, more attention and a private area for just me and drinks were served. Rue Cambon is lovely, dont get me wrong but people are working and it is hectic. If you want the special treatment Dacob talks about, I suggest going to another Chanel.
ОтветитьWhat u said is somehow very true.perhaps because there were too many customers at that time.i've even better shopping experience in chanel in KLCC Malaysia.but then again 31 Rue Cambon is indeed very iconic
ОтветитьI got a good experience when I went there June 2017.
Very crowded because it was summer, but I knew I wanted specific bags. They give it and we even chatted about the history of the bags, and the store.
The sales associate even offered to take my photo to the stairs.
I agree, there's too many people, but I think you just need to be lucky with a sales associate.
I know the avenue Montaigne store is more stocked and less crowded, but it's still pretty crowded since it is still Paris.
Paris is always crowded.
:( you just crushed my dream
ОтветитьWhere did you have your best boutique experience?
ОтветитьThanks for the honest review. I would love to visit Europe someday and of course visit a Chanel boutique there for the experience. And no, I do not want to be shopping in a supermarket like kind of environment. I had that experience at some high end dept stores before when I traveled and I ran out as fast as I could because I ended up feeling frustrated, stressed, and treated with impatience by SAs. Of course there are always tourists flocking there to buy buy buy. That's not me. Does anyone know which Chanel boutique to visit in Europe that has wide selection of products and better customer service - more time and patience? Thanks!
ОтветитьFabulous sweatshirt
ОтветитьI had a really good experience at Chanel on Avenue Montaigne.
