I’m going to put a disclaimer in my car on the back of the seat that advises them, that if they enter my vehicle with a service animal and it causes any damage, they are financially responsible for damage to my personal vehicle and by accepting the ride, they are agreeing to the terms of my personal property. Hopefully this will make them choose to cancel the ride themselves. I have the right to make rules for my own vehicle, whether they have an animal or not. Uber cannot dictate the terms of my vehicle.
ОтветитьIt’s usually tweakers who bring their Rottweilers and Pitbulls and act like they are service dogs. Tweakers don’t care.
ОтветитьI dont get it if they have uber pet, I know drivers that like that.
ОтветитьWhen I used to drive, one rider didn’t want for his pet dog to be on the floor of the vehicle… I never refused the ride, just wanted for the dog to be on the floor. He cancelled the ride and complained to Lyft. I was suspended.
I investigated who he was by his pickup address, talked to his neighbor that confirmed that the dog was not service.
I filed the lawsuit against the guy for fraud and malicious defamation, named Lyft as the accessory/coconspirator.
Lyft reinstated me on the same day when I serviced them, the guy settled the lawsuit, Lyft paid me for the days I was not able to drive.
I modified my truck with a pet gate, pet safety belts, treats and water dish. The animals love me!
ОтветитьBusinesses have the right to refuse service. As a independent contractor I certainly do. Uber don't pay my gas, car note, insurance or a Vegas local and state biz license. Can't have it both ways, go ride Uber pet with a disabled discount.
ОтветитьPerson with a supposed service animal... Dog pissed all over my backseat of my car. Customer just laughed... Went to support And they did the equivalent of laugh. It's truly a place us drivers will always lose.
ОтветитьHappened a few times it was an easy cancel ride and it was over no problems
ОтветитьUber is basically a monopoly. The feds need to break it up.
ОтветитьIn my 9 years of driving experience everything has happened to me, fur all over, pis on the seats, scratches on the seats and doors. I simply can't stand one more pet in my car, as soon as I see that they have a dog I drive away, cancel and never come back.
ОтветитьThe main problem with this is when you rent from hertz or avis they want to charge you for finding pet hairs in the car. Those that rent to drive are left in a dilema. Accept because of the federal law, or decline and not get charged an extra cleaning cleaning fee
ОтветитьWhat about. Pit. Bull
ОтветитьI had a supposedly service dog in my car and of course it had fleas and I had a flea infestation and guess who didn't pay for to get rid of them
ОтветитьIt’s absolutely insane that the ADA forces people to subjugate their interests to a total stranger. People can use the ADA to financially burden a total stranger in the name of non discrimination. Uber drivers can be forced to lose income having to clean up after a service animal. Landlords and employers can be forced to make physical changes to their buildings at their own expense without compensation just because a total stranger happens to walk in and demand it.
ОтветитьThere should be an official ID card of some sort that should be granted by both uber/Lyft and the provider of said service animal. And should be provided to all who use service animal and be shown to all drivers when asked.
ОтветитьThe problem is many are not behaved and there razors on the end of there paws
ОтветитьMaryland is something else with taxes and people greediness
ОтветитьThey need to announce it in the app so you can choose before accepting ❤ I am an Uber driver
ОтветитьWhat about the service animal makes a mess in the car and Uber doest give you the cleaning fee to clean the mess you have to pay from your pocket
ОтветитьLike a drivers license needed to drive, a business license for rideshare, car insurance, people need to have proof and lyft uber need to get on board
ОтветитьSome people are entitled
ОтветитьAnyone with a fake SD trying to go through TSA or any other government type checkpoint can't pass. Uber/Lyft should have a checklist of what a legit SD does to be ADA compliant.
ОтветитьI lower the back seat and have towels to lay over everything. Then i take pictures so the rider sees me taking pictures. Never had a problem. The animal still sits next to the rider and still has access to it.
ОтветитьEven with a dash cam, it's technically illegal to ask or assume the status of a "service animal". I've had service animals and agree with the training aspect.
I've cancelled people when I see them standing outside with the dog running in circles and barking. Cancelled. If the animal is still and at the owners side no distractions probably a service animal.
How about this. You see a passenger with a fake service dog or any dog you just don't want in your car...all of a sudden you get a low tire light and have to cancel...🤔, for safety reasons of course.
ОтветитьSome people have dogs that might even be vicious and bite. What do we do then?
ОтветитьI was deactivated from lyft for discriminatory behavior according to lyft. I drove 18 months for lyft and performed 8,750 rides. I received thousands of above and beyond complimentscas well as excellent attitude, cleanliness, good driving and friendly service. In all those rides i only received maybe 20 complaints from disgruntled riders that were in a bad mood or did not get their way. Can you help me?
ОтветитьWhat about emotional support animals aren't service
ОтветитьYou can ask what service the animal performs. Emotional support is not acceptable or covered by the law.
ОтветитьA Dog is a medium sized predatory animal, that evolved to chase down prey and kill it with it teeth.
Yes I DO mind you bringing a large predator I don't know into the car.
I love your show but please stop saying the lords name in vein
ОтветитьAs an Uber and Lyft driver, it's pretty astounding how much these companies want to push the enforcement of service animals for passengers, but as a driver that needs a Medical Service dog, I can get zero support from Uber or Lyft
ОтветитьYou can ask the 2 legal questions
1 is this a service dog required got a disability
2 what task is is trained to perform
If they say the dog provided emotional support. No
I have a service dog I have no problem answering the questions and my dog is task trained. Actual service dog handlers are mindful of other people's cars.
i have an unrelated question to the experienced ride-share folks. criminals are now wearing face masks to commit crime. while wearing a face mask it will be difficult to ID someone with a drive cam. do you guys allow people in your car if they are wearing a mask?
ОтветитьYou can legally ask 2 questions. Educate yourself on the ADA. It's not hard.
ОтветитьPassengers are lying to drivers all the time and rideshare companies don’t give a fxxx. Pretty obvious some are not service animals.
ОтветитьWhen I see a person with an animal coming to my car I drive away and cancel the ride.
ОтветитьYou are supposed to be able to ask two questions:
1) Is that a service animal?
2) What task is the service animal trained to do?
Uber and Lyft drivers ought not to get in trouble for asking those two questions.
I had a rider who brought his own towel for his dog. If you carry your dog like a baby, its not a service dog.
ОтветитьTwo Legally Permitted Questions
Is the dog a service animal required because of a disability?
What work or task has the dog been trained to perform?
If they cant answer that honestly, you can refuse.
Service animals and emotional support animals are different. A service animal goes through special training unlike emotional support animals. So if a customer gets in the car and says her animal is a service animal, you can ask what training has the dog gone through. If the dog hasn't gone through any training, it's an emotional support or pet friendly, in which case they need to order Uber Pet. You can decline the ride and if they report you, provide them the footage
ОтветитьThe comment section is exactly what I expected. Bunch of entitled and woefully ignorant drivers.
Ive been in these situations hundreds of times due to almost 30 years in the Food & Bev business. For rideshare drivers, most of you will experience this once or never. Ive given 1000s of rides, still never ran across this myself.
You do you, but, the laws are clear. You're not just risking being de-platformed, you're risking a federal lawsuit that you 1) likely cant even afford the defense for and 2) you're gonna lose anyways. It will cost you 10s of 1000s of dollars by the time its done. Its not worth it. Just do your buisness with them, Pass Go, collect your $10-$20 fare and be done with it.
This happens in grocery stores also. The two questions are a joke and prove nothing. Why does one handicap force another handicap allergies can be deadly a person having to get another ride is not life threatening. Service animals should require identification. There are penalties for fraud of a service animal but who enforces it no one
Service dog fraud is prohibited under California Penal Code 365.7 PC. A violation of this law can result in a criminal misdemeanor offense and a jail term of six months.
Give 1 star to a any rider with pets. Lower rated rider will not get picked up
ОтветитьTo put ADA rules on independent contractors is diabolical..that’s what mobility is for 😑 hopefully I never get one cause it’s a No 4 me
ОтветитьAs someone who is blind I do ride with my guide dog. When I do get rides, drivers always tell me how well he behaved and that he is better than some of their human passengers.
Before Uber added this feature, I would always message the driver ahead of time to let them know that I was blind and traveling with my guide dog. When I did this some drivers would cancel but I would eventually get a driver who was willing. I know this is illegal but at the end of the day I don’t want to have driver after driver pull up and cancel making me late or have them drive me when they are not comfortable. I do think being allergic is a valid reason and I also understand that all those that abuse this with fake service animals have made it difficult for drivers to just take the word of us with real service animals. I also make sure I give an extra tip in case my dog does shed since uber does not reimburse drivers or let them charge cleaning fees for this. I also brush him every day and get him groomed professionally to cut down on this.
I do disagree with some points made here as my dog is not a pet. He is no different then my using my cane or the screen reader I used to review the comments and respond.
At the end of the day I don’t want to just be denied just because I have my guide dog, however I also understand the driver’s points of view and they don’t have as much recourse or safeguards in this area. I don’t have a good solution that would benefit everyone, but I feel it is important to listen not just to the needs of those with disabilities like myself but to the others that they impact and not just blindly (no pun intended) enforce laws without addressing nuance.
This is my 2 cents on this from the perspective of a disabled rider for what it’s worth.
yes this is insane people will abuse the system for people who really have service animals
ОтветитьWhat if that "service dog" attacks you?
ОтветитьI once did an uber pet and the guy had 3 baby goats which was super wierd but they were better behaved then some dog i have had
Ответить
