Can you imagine living in the U.S. and taking just one flight to go skiing or snowboarding, and that flight being on Emirates? Well it's possible. But there is a catch. You have to fly from JFK Airport in New York. Emirates generally only flies to Dubai from the U.S. But from JFK, it also flies to Milan. And from Milan, you can access ski resorts like Andermatt, St. Moritz and Zermatt in Switzerland, Via Lattea in Italy, and Chamonix in France. Zermatt and Via Lattea are some of the largest ski resorts in the world, and Andermatt, Chamonix and Zermatt are Epic/IKON Pass destinations. So if you live in the New York area, or are willing to catch a connecting flight to go skiing or snowboarding, a flight on Emirates to the mountains may be as good an option as others.
To fly affordably, you may want to monitor prices on the Emirates website, use and Emirates miles that you've already accrued to lower the price, and like I did, use credit card points to upgrade to Emirates First Class. Whether economy, premium economy, business class or first class, it's tough to beat Emirates, so it's definitely something to consider.
However, as noted in the video, Emirates has announced that it is replacing the A380 on this route with the 777-300ER. That means that if you're in business class or first class, you will not have access to a bar on the plane. And in business class, you won't be able to get a single seat if you are traveling alone. On United, single business class seats are available. That makes airlines like United more attractive, at least to me. So you may need to seriously consider what you're getting for the price. Because Emirates has eliminated the A380 to Milan, I am flying United to Europe this year because it give me a better value for what I am seeking.
Emirates, bring back the A380 to Milan!
