Ah, McPhee Campground on the McPhee reservoir in the San Juan National Forest - so nice to smell the evergreens and camp in the shade. This campground offers sites with no water or electric, sites with electric only and just two sites with full hook ups.
Heads Up: No working dump station here!
What we love about McPhee Campground:
1. Large wooded sites
2. Scenic lake
3. Wildlife - lots of deer
4. Close to Dolores, Colorado with restaurants, the Dolores River, and Canyons of the Ancients National Monument
5. Verizon worked well at our site, Juniper 34E
6. Plenty of roads and trails to walk dogs
7. Can Do Trail - scenic, not long
8. Anasazi ruins along the Can Do Trail
What we didn't love about McPhee Campground:
1. No dump station
2. No showers
Still, even with the two negatives, it is well worth a visit. We're glad we stayed at McPhee Campground.
