It’s hard to find a free old wooden desk by the curve. I’ve come across with lots of ikea (don’t look down on ikea stuff, I’ve used them to build jigs)

I'm sorry i'm new to hand tool wood working. May I ask why you test the edges of the boards with your fingers before and after planing ? What info does that provide ? Thank you :)

Those look very similar to the miniature tools over on Jim Bode's site. As for what you can do to spice it up... why not do some knot work on the facing edges or put in some unnecessary exotic wood inlays.

Nothing like a simple curio display made with hand tools. The sounds of planes and hand saws never gets old. Nice one!

I have been thinking of building a library set and this looks the ideal method. can you put a rebate in the back panel similar to the sides to discourage shelf bow under weight for 3ft shelves ?
