ОтветитьPiping up on behalf of the lazy vegans: I usually make red lentil stew (curry?) with a cup of lentils, one large sweet potato, 4 cloves of garlic grated and equivalent among of ginger, ditto; a can of diced tomatoes generous amounts of cumin and herbes de Province plus a jalapeneo or 2. I love collard greens a very generous amount chopped and added at the end and a final squeeze of lemon. That's a meal prep comes out to 3 portions or 4 with brown rice. (1 tsp salt all that's needed.) I will try this variation I know it's brilliant. Also as a Canadian in the autumn split pea soup with roasted tubers awesome. Love your channel Will!

You can also use sweet potatoes instead of regular potatoes.
I also added tumeric and a bit of chopped cilantro at the end.

ОтветитьI love Yeung Man cooking and bought all his books. It hurts to say this, but I was shocked at how bland this turned out for me. Not sure if it's supposed to be or if I messed up somewhere. But it was like lentil water and someone whispering "cumin" from the other room. Lol
ОтветитьSince I've been making this recipe (over and over again, it is so delicious), I always boil the water first for all other soups I make. Such a good tip, I feel it brings out the flavour more than when using cold water.

ОтветитьGreat recipe. I just finished making it. Only had brown lentils on hand so it didn't turn out as "pretty" as yours. I added Tumeric and Bay seasoning to mine, along with a couple tablespoons of sour cream to make it even creamier. I haven't tried it yet, but fingers crossed. Letting it cool a bit for now.
