Beautiful artwork! Thank you so much for your review, I already have lots of colored pencils and I'm focusing more on digital right now, nonetheless, I want to get these pencils since I've heard nothing but good things about them and at some point I know I'll come back to traditional art. (Right now they are sold out, at least in my country, so I'll have to wait)
ОтветитьYay, a good budget set, which I can also buy here. Only the many shades of yellow bother me a bit, I would then buy it on offer.😊
ОтветитьI think if you've used a pencil down to the base you've earned yourself the right to take it to the art store and look for a replacement in a professional range. That way you could end up being able to collect a professional set slowly and still develop your drawing skills.
ОтветитьI have heard from another review that they will be coming out open stock. Fingers crossed x
ОтветитьThank you so much for your review..I always enjoy them 🥰
ОтветитьHullo Harry, I enjoy watching your reviews. I believe I must disagree with one of your points. Professional artworks CAN BE done with budget pencils! With the continued development of scanners and software to color correct even enhance hand drawn artworks, Professional printing services can make long lasting prints of museum quality, which in many cases are better than the original artwork! I have kept budget pencils around for nieces and nephews to create their own artworks when they visit. Nothing makes me cringe more than seeing a Prismacolor pencil being used on a coloring book page! There are plenty of similar pencils that if you buy a budget pencil and run out of a single color you can find its similar counterpart in open stock. Not for 38 cents but many around $1.00! this is one way to build up a professional grade line of pencils without going broke!
OH, and Harry? I have been a working Artist for over 40 years and perhaps times are passing me bye but I do believe your Artworks are very good an you could sell prints even if you are using budget pencils to create them! You should keep the originals for your self but I see no reason if you mount them with museum quality frames, Mats, UV Glass you could sell originals! They should last a lifetime! maybe not 100 years, but then who knows who will be here then!
Yay great review Harry ! I always am eager to hear what you think...
I love these and even purchased a second set as I am wearing my first set down quickly !
Honestly you are too modest; your art is wonderful...
Another very helpful review, thanks!
ОтветитьAlways the first reviewer I go to for new pencil sets. Loving the strawberry drawing as well, wish I had an ounce of your talent. Off to get these pencils now :) Thanks for all the reviews
ОтветитьI do believe there will be a B set in the future. I love them.
ОтветитьThe foam base and no open stock are the only fails for me. Budget friendly enough to buy a replacement set. They are great pencils overall!
ОтветитьSomething I noticed when you showed the swatches: the names of the colors are the same as Prismacolor. Of course there are always going to be some that are the same regardless of the brand such as black, white, cream, and even yellow ochre, but I noticed color names that are unique to Prismacolor are also used with this set. Colors like sunburst yellow, yellowed orange, goldenrod, poppy red, ginger root, etc. Other than Shortbread, I think every single color name is also the name of a Prismacolor pencil. Even using cool and warm grey 20%, 50%, and 70%. That’s something Prismacolor does.
There’s no real point here. I just thought that was interesting. Great review. I always enjoy watching them.
I know everybody is raving about these pencils, but I think $30 for 72 pencils (especially budget quality pencils) is a bit of a rip-off. This was the best review of these pencils I've seen yet. Thank you!
ОтветитьI trust your reviews. Thank you so much for this one.
ОтветитьO.K. just turn them upside down, the end fits perfectly into the round slot. They do not move or flop around at all this way when you take a few out from the same area. Just be careful when you are pulling them out by the tip.
ОтветитьThe alternative is to just put a strip of card between the two rows, that stops them flopping around too. Thanks Harry, hope you are keeping well.
Ответитьomg they're cuteeee🤡🤡🤡 those little stars on the side are so cute.....i kinda want em hnggg
ОтветитьHow do these blend with the Chromaflow?
ОтветитьWhich are the best colores pemcils? Castle Arts, Artezza or Arrtx?
ОтветитьI was looking at these pencils and I was wondering how good they were. Now I know . Thank you so much Harry. Love Terri Simmers.
ОтветитьSuper review as usual. I love yellow and orange, but even for me there are too many golden orangey yellows, and several did not cover well. Needs more greens, dark reds and pinks. The browns are muddy and not a clear brown, the silver is great to color a candle. And the Turquoise Grey is fabulous. Good extra fun set for the money, creamy. Only one, the Peacock blue broke, but I used a cheap manual sharpener. Fun fact, if you line up the stars in your pencil case, it shows the color name at the top. Easy peasy.
ОтветитьWould love to know if they will come out with a 120 set :)!
ОтветитьWhat would you say is a better quality pencil and/or better for beginners, Arteza or Arrtx?
ОтветитьI bought these…didn’t like it at all.
ОтветитьDoes anyone know what paper would be good for these pencils?
ОтветитьHow do these compare to the Schpirerr Farben?
ОтветитьSelam lütfen Türk dilinde altyazı ekleyin🥺
ОтветитьHas arrtx made any announcements of new sets (either larger or smaller)?
ОтветитьI like yellow. With paints, other than white, I tend to run out of yellow much faster than others. The fact that this set has so many yellow appeals to me. ✨ Plus the affordable price.
ОтветитьI'm someone u has been following u since almost 2 years now and i have seen you review so many budged pencils. I am an artist myself and I sell my drawings as well in many different countries, I used to use Faber castell classic color pencils and no body could tell I used cheap pencils and kept asking me how I used them to achieve such pigmented and high quality drawing, so I believe that u don't always need to buy professional pencils u can create beautiful work and realistic work you can achieve that from cheap pencils as well. Also I have a question, since you have reviewed Nyoni, Brutfuner and Arrtx pencils which one do you think is the best to buy from these 3 bcuz I'm debating on which one to buy so could you help me out on that.
ОтветитьThey sound like a really nice pencil for the money Harry. I love your strawberries, good enough to eat. Nice colours, but I agree with you, an over abundance of yellows and not enough blues in the paler range. I think pencil manufacturers must all live in hot climates. They look up and see deep cerulean blue skies and think a cerulean blue pencil is all we need. They need to come and have a look at the skies we in the Northern hemisphere find ourselves looking at a lot of the time and accommodate us! I've just done a picture with Tombow Irojiten pencils and found some delightful blue/grey blue/aqua colours for the sky.
Thanks for another superb review. Are you having fun in your studio still? How did it cope with the heatwave and now that it's getting damper and cooler? Is it OK as a working environment for you? Perfect to have your own space like that.
I got those pencils. Absolutely hate the packaging. Useless box in my opinion. But cute design. They sharpen beautifully. They hold the sharp tip for long time, perfect for little details in colouring books. I was a bit disappointed with too many yellow shades but in the end I ended up using all of them. So dont mind anymore. I heard they will be available open stock thats why they have bar code on them amd they are also shoud come up with bigger set in the future. Definitely grabbing bigger set as soon as it will become available. I had an issue with lavander colour pencil, it just kept breaking when I was sharpening it. Other than that they are very nice. BTW the Faber Castell dark green 9000 pencil sharpner works amazing with this pensils. Highly recommend! Thank you for yhe review!
ОтветитьGood review Harry! Very thorough- answered all my questions!
ОтветитьI’ve watched a few reviews of theses pencils and this is by far the most detailed review
ОтветитьAnother great review. You need to reconsider selling your art work. Everything you have shown of your art work is awesome!!!
ОтветитьHi, new subscriber here. Are these better than the brutfuner square 120 set? I want to buy a budget set and I was wondering which one is better. Thank you :)
ОтветитьJust box the 72 set 😄 Black Friday sale. They replaced 2 yellows (1015 yellow chartreuse + 1037 short bread) with 4140 lavender and 2039 ocean blue. 😊
ОтветитьYou're right about lightfast and cost; not only does it require paying for lab testing, but the pigments can be more expensive. The good news is that for artists who don't sell originals or for hobbyists, there are affordable, functional pencils. The same applies to watercolor; the best pigments and formulations are much more expensive.
ОтветитьAre these better than crayola? & Is it worth adding to my collection? I color in adult coloring books, I don't sell my art
ОтветитьWould Menthalated Spirits do the same job as the mineral spirits, great video, very informative.
ОтветитьWow you are amazing artist thank you so much for the in depth review. I love the botanical art
ОтветитьI think a lot of budget pencils have same-ey colours to give technically a range of colours but also options to replace used up colours within the set without having to repurchase an entirely new set since they don't always come in open stock. Arrtx doesn't, but arteza does now.
ОтветитьOver abundance of yellow tho is just cause yellow is the easiest to make and it's rude cause it's the least valuable colour. Just double up on Greys instead maaaannn
ОтветитьThank you for your review. Very informative. 😊
ОтветитьIs Arrtx similar to Arteza? I have Arteza pencils and layering of different colors is problematic.
I wanted to get other pencils, but don't want anything similar to Arteza.
Gracias a tu reseña, me decidí en comprar estos lápices arrtx . Estoy esperando cuando lleguen y probarlos. Gracias
ОтветитьBrutfuners square or Arrtx?
ОтветитьI just came from your blog and now watching your review.
P.S. maybe I just don't know how to use OMS, but every time I use it, it lifts up the pigment/color off of the paper instead of blending. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.
I'm a Kindergarten teacher and I bought these for my class to share. However, I loved using them so much I bought a set for myself. Even though I have my Polychromos at home, these are my "sketching out and about" favorites.
