Yo! I was real confused for a minute as to why Tim Pool was doing D&D content.

I have a joke that I think any copper dragon will love and I’ll even adapt it to a d&d setting.

So a man finds a brass lamp with a wizard inside that was pranked by a copper dragon to eternally live in it and cast one wish spell to any who rub the lamp. The man rubs the lamp cuz “fuck it” and out pops the wizard. He states the rules no falling in love, no killing and no more wishes. The man asks for a bridge leading from the mainland to Rentooki Island. (created by Brian the DM of The Cantrip Cast) The wizard denies this request since it would be dangerous to any travelers with the various sea monsters that would lurk nearby and asks if there’s anything else. The man says “okay well then I’d like to be able to understand women.” The wizard says “let’s go back to that bridge do you want it made of stone bricks or wood?”

That line about cursed treasure makes me wonder if a character could make some deals with a copper dragon for something of actual value.

This gives me a fun idea for a copper dragon in counter were the party finds a tavern carved into the Mt lair of the dragon who decided to open his own tavern as a way to lure in more bards and adventures to tell jokes and stories as well as a way to find ways to prank people lol

I play an arcane trickster rogue earth genasi with the gift of the metallic dragon feat. This is important because it’s how I settled on the copper dragon coming into being in this character’s backstory.
So the story is that the local copper dragon was surveying their territory and came across what they thought was a large opal. Well obviously that is treasure and rare too at that size so they approach it. Except…it’s a baby. This is my earth genasi. She resembles an opal gem in form. So yeah, this copper immediately freaks out because baby (and the dragon is kinda pushover and kindhearted despite all the pranks) and takes the abandoned child and goes to the nearest tribe of humanoids. Since they already knows these humanoids they seek advice. Once provided, and even with counteroffers, the Copper decides to adopt my earth Genasi character and raise her as their own. I mean, she is the gem they found. By all rights, yes she already is claimed as part of the dragon’s hoard. So yeah, this how my Arcane Trickster becomes a lover of pranks and learned in magic. She gains the gift of the metallic dragon feat from her Copper dragon parent when she decides to see life beyond her immediate home, something a dragon sees as perfectly normal given dragon raising practices. However, still a squishy child creature which means the feat as a blessing and the headband of intellect in hopes that their child will always use their head (probably not gonna happen the way they want but that’s children for you). Anyway, that’s how my character begins her adventure. Her personal story is a coming of age tale. Though she is about to be caught up in the affairs and mechanisms of a handful of cults and will have to depend on the party to help her out, not to mention mature a bit.

Fake treasure huh, I think I’m gonna make an encounter with a copper where there’s a mound of gold coins that are all chocolate
