Whilst I take your point about competition, the other side of the equation is demand. And the whole world loves coffee, which is why I sell mugs! Whereas not everyone drinks water or soft drinks (I don't) and the demand is therefore lower for the other drinkware. I do pretty well with my custom mugs.

I think it's a good little extra add on to go along with other higher margin products on your site, or even as a bonus gift for a purchase minimum of something like $100

I see so many mugs on Etsy that are frankly terrible, or mediocre at best. I would say it is 90 percent.

Now, you get back what you put it that design.

Put in little effort, and get back little reward.

You might get lucky, but that means producing more crap more often, doesnt it? And hoping one pays off, and in doing so, effectively diluting your visibility, because everyone else like you is flooding the market with endless listings.

This mentality seriously must stop.

Anyone with a brain can work out, its only a matter of time before that niche ends and another trending niche endless chasing game begins.

Now. Stop this madness.

Calm the farm and THINK.

START WITH WHAT YOUR PASSIONATE ABOUT AND COULD BE SUSTAINED.

This in turn will motivate you to design the best design possible, and also to sell it for more, because its not the same as the other 90 percent flooding the market!

The accent color mug is not the same product as the all white mugs and the prices are different. Also, there are mugs cheaper than $6

I think it all depends on the amount you want to make per month. $1000 a month is a realistic goal selling mugs in my opinion.

I started in 2022 and it's going pretty well. I sell on Etsy, Tiktok shop, Shopify and Ebay. HOWEVER, the POD supplier I use are based in the UK and not very well known (I live in the UK) and offer fantastic prices compared to the likes of Printify and Printful. I would 100% not be making any money if I had to sell through those suppliers, it's too expensive.

Rip here I was thinking to sell this mug idea I worked all hard on. How sad. Looks like I'll be poor forever. Taxes will take all my hard work I wanted to do. Looks like i"ll just work till death.

I've been creating mugs for almost 3 months now with research , making sure titles are great , description is also great , doing my SEO , making realistic mockup using placeit or even custom mockups , and creating unique designs or even ones that are selling a lot but adding a twist. Yet still its hard to make any sales at all . I now realalised why now after a long 3 months of consistently working on it .

I don't know what item on POD model would actually sell I mean there now temu which sell water drinks and mugs and also more people selling on etsy aswell.
