"Constitutions a living document"
LOLLLLLLLL
18 year term limits let’s go
Ответить"Independent court above party or interests"
HAHAHAHA (Laughs in MAGA)
Nothing should be a lifetime appointment. Dog catcher, Parks and Recreation Director, Supreme Court Justice.
ОтветитьTWW was and will remain my favorite show of Aaron Sorkin’s. One thing he wrote very well is the level of loyalty law clerks have regardless if they are SCOTUS Clerks or if they are local Superior Court Clerks. It is a special bond and undying loyalty that often times can complicate judgement and/or ethics. Every former law clerk of any judge that has been under my wing when they enter private practice have strong pride in their clerkship years and are loyal to a fault. It’s incredible.
ОтветитьI really disliked The West Wing because of Toby and Martin Sheen, the Hollywood writers made them “holier than thou” because they were liberals.
Ответитьan independent court above party or interests. imagine that.
ОтветитьWhy was Matthew Langford Perry not in the subsequent episode where the Chief Justice was actually replaced?
ОтветитьNo lifetime appointments
ОтветитьThis aged badly in light of the corruption of Clarance Thomas.
ОтветитьLife imitates art.
ОтветитьSomeone needs to retire from your secret Supreme Court.
ОтветитьI don't like it when this show ages well
ОтветитьFinished watching all 7 seasons, episode a night, a couple months ago. I think I'll start again, something comforting about watching a political system working with dignity and class, given what's going on in real life.
ОтветитьNot one of the conservative justices are incapacitated so cope harder libs
ОтветитьThe West Wing was about a liberal administration and in this episode, they were clearly admonishing conservatives for keeping a mentally incompetent individual in power. But now the shoes on the other foot, so it’s a different story. They kept him as long as they could, but now that they have a replacement, they cast him aside. Of course the replacement is as bad or worse, but she might have a slightly better chance of winning so…
ОтветитьWow. Even on TV a republican lies like a rug.
ОтветитьThis is why term limits
ОтветитьIf only this show was real
ОтветитьWho's here for Matthew Perry? This shows what a talented actor he was. The last scene shows the acting within the acting. RIP
ОтветитьThis clip is why I'm voting for Trump. This is EXACTLY how liberals think. Having a high-ranking official from the executive branch personally (and publicly) visit a Supreme Court Chief Justice in the hospital to pressure him to resign is a massive, deliberate violation of the Constitution, and completely violates the principle of separation of powers. The Court is a separate, equal institution of government, and contrary to the left's dream, isn't under their control. An independent judiciary is one of the fundamental principles holding this country together. As demonstrated by the left pushing such idiocies as a code of ethics for the court (enforced by Congress) they don't care in the least what happens to the country, as long as they retain power. No way. Ever, and I don't care who Trump sleeps with. Anything is better than this.
Ответитьlifetime appointments for anything is rediculous, so is political appointments for judges. these people shoulde be independent
ОтветитьBiden?
ОтветитьKnock knock,
Who’s there?
Well it ain’t Mathew Perry now is it?
Just the opposite of the way it is now.
ОтветитьDoes the Chief Justice get replace?
ОтветитьToby Ziegler was always an asshole. And this particular moment just showed him for the partisan hack he really was.
ОтветитьThis was such a damn good show, the best show that has ever been made about American politics. I have been interested in national politics since I was 15 during the Vietnam War. This issue never occurred to me until I saw this episode - who discusses resignation with a SCOTUS judge? is it appropriate for the Executive branch to put pressure on elderly judges?
ОтветитьThose vultures are circling in the sky as the United States Supreme Court Chief Judge is in ICU.
ОтветитьBiden?
ОтветитьThis is the exact reason why Supreme Court judges should have a term limit. Maybe 9 years with a new appointment every year. Each Justice would serve under at least 2 presidents, or 3 terms.
ОтветитьI wonder if these rooms are really this dark?
ОтветитьToby is a Sorkin invention.
Ответить"The Constitution's a living document..."
Fuck you, Toby.
Richard Schiff did more acting with his eyes than most do with monologues.
ОтветитьI was never really a "Friends" watcher or fan. I thought Matthew Perry was brilliant in his short run on The West Wing.
ОтветитьThe biggest tragedy of all is that Matthew Perry wasn’t full cast member. He knocked it out of the park on Studio 60 and would’ve been just as fantastic on The West Wing.
Ответитьi hope perry's character was fired for that. he lied to his superior and did it because of political beliefs. whatever his beliefs, his loyalty is to the white house he chose to work for. his spiel about judicial independence was just a smoke screen to mask his loyalty to the party and the man personally.
ОтветитьWas Matthew stoned in this episode?
ОтветитьThere's a Matthew Perry shaped hole in the world and it won't ever be full, but his moments like this are what make it a little easier.
ОтветитьMandatory retirement from all government positions at 70
ОтветитьNone of this show applies anymore, we crossed over that threshold the moment Bush v Gore was decided.
ОтветитьI love Matthew Perry in this role
ОтветитьI love Matthew Perry in this role. He was so talented.
ОтветитьRbg vibes lol
ОтветитьThe last scene of Ginsburg before she bounced.
ОтветитьAnd here we are with career politicians who honestly NEED to Go -
Go anywhere & take the young WOKE GANG with you !
Go to another country & let ' US ' rebuild our country.
