Thanks for the great video! I recently mixed up some pure tung oil, spar urethane, and turpentine finish, which is functionally the same as this, and I was glad to have some extra reassurance on how to use it.

Rather than hit it with 400 as a separate process, if you use a scotch bright as an applicator it'll knock the nibs off while applying the second coat!

What do you recommend as a finishing wax, after you use this amazing recipe? 🤗💗👍

How durable is the finish? Will this hold up on a table top that will get a lot of use, spills, water ring from a glass?

Tung pil works better than L.O. It smells better, and won’t yellow over time.

Would you recommend any final finish or polish over this once it’s fully cured?

Any ideas on substitutes for mineral spirits? In california that's banned. Been looking at Acetone, paint thinner from Klean Strip, painter's solvent which the bottle says "Replaces MEK, toluene, xylene and VM&P naphtha"

I really liked your video. I have a question about a comment on using tung oil instead of BLO. Is the tung oil pure or is it minwax tung oil finish? Also, you stated that some people swap out mineral spirits with pure tung oil or is it minwax tung oil finish? The two finishes are quite different. Again, I enjoyed your video!

Can I use gloss in place of semi or satin?

Would this make a good wood deck sealant?

Would this work well on an outdoor arbor made of redwood?

I use that myself. And you are 100% correct. It is awesome for walnut. It is a bit light for white wood. I recommend a coat of stain first if you want the wood darker.

I just slapped one without blo for wipe on poly and been using it for a bit. Great on little bird houses that we paint with tempera by our kids

This is super simple - thanks for sharing. One question - can I use water based polyurethane or does it have to be oil based polyurethane? And also in California we get this new mineral spirit which is milky white. Is that OK to use? Thanks in advance.

Is there a reason you used Spar poly in this mix over just regular poly? Will the chair go outside? Just wondering. Chair looks great.

Hrmm, the red oak and walnut actually is pretty nice. I usually like Birch or Maple with walnut cuz I love the contrast and the pop of the walnut against the light wood....but that's red oak ain't half bad either.

Should we use a prestain on our furniture before we stain it?

This polyurethane is the same like decking oil which is penetrating polyurethane oil?

I have a question about finish I'm trying to make
I'm using rosin (colophony) as the resin (wich is a natural resin) and olive oile and accetone to dissolve them
But when I apply it , it remains very sticky and adhesive and never dries .
Can anyone help me with this problem ???
Should I use kind of a "hardener" ??

Hmm I use the same thing except I do Turpentine for the Mineral Spirits. I wonder if one is better than the other?

An easy wax finish (quantities by weight):
45% wax of your choice
45% turpentine
10% linseed oil

My woodworking teacher always made his own using pinesap and other natural ingredients, that stuff always smelled amazing!
