Thank you for this video. I am a new subscriber and I used Gesso once on a project and I could no longer see the numbers. Your technique and suggestions made alot of sense.

I think I’ve ruined three canvases by letting my clear gesso dry before I noticed the prominent brush strokes. I painted on one and can really notice the brush strokes. Is there anything I can do?

Quick question- I just started the Schipper Manhattan PBN, lots of brush stokes uneven etc. Can I just gesso now right over what I have have painted already? In part of the video you stated you added Liquitex over the Art Basics. Is the mixed double layer the surface you painted in the comparison? No gesso vs art basics with liquitex vs just liquitex.. Or was it No gesso vs art basics vs liquitex? Thanks again for another great video. I have now done a Schipper with 2 different gessos (the Mont Marte when I really was a newbie, so it wasn't the greatest test, and then the Art Basics). So will try the liquitex (carefully!) on my next and see. You are so helpful! Love these videos soooo much!

Shows how I can watch a whole Melanie video & never see new orange gesso applicator just purchased! Ty for that little tool as for Schipper have been using a brush & did best to keep it almost dry from water (not to warp the boards) & now have a new learning curve but those brush strokes & grab that loose bristle out of there now days are over! Ty again & still choose Liquatex clear gesso & tried two others.

Uh oh, I bought the Art Basics. Guess I’ll try it to see how I like it. I noticed the other was considerably more expensive.

Should I apply gesso on a PBN with a tinted background?

I have tried both gessoes and found its better to paint Schipper boards as they come using your flow method. But mind you dont put too much paint on in one go or it will dry in crinkly patches which you cant get rid of.
