Alvvays - Blue Rev is in my top 10. A really beautiful indie album that ticks all the boxes for me and I can’t stop listening to it.

Honestly nevermind might be the spiciest pick of any album on anyone's end of year list being at 9 on this list. I get it's all opinions, but damn that is wild after some that are ranked higher to 20 on this very list haha

Fred Again is phenomenal. A one of a kind producer and his album Actual Life 3 was fantastic. But so is everything he touches. Definitely recommend diving into his music. For edm music, it certainly evokes a lot of emotions

Surprised not to see Lupe’s album

Didn't listen to many whole albums this year, but my faves are Renaissance, Motomami, Dawn FM and of course Ateez's The World EP 1: Movement (my boys never disapoint me, btw I think you would like it)

For Me DAWN FM was the Best Album and still is.

if you love jazzy weirdness check out hakushi hasegawa, specially his newer works all up on his channel.

Jon you absolutely need to check out Weyes Blood's entire catalogue if you haven't already. The lush cinematic like landscapes Natalie creates on her albums is absolutely something you'd enjoy.

no way HERBERT didn't MAKE it? Feel like it's definitely in the top 20s, especially considering Her Loss being as high as it is.

Hugo is my personal favourite, Loyle made some bangers and has had an amazing 3 album run with Yesterday's Gone and Not Waving, But Drowning, definitely one of if not the best of the UK

Check out ILYSM by Wild Pink. I can't explain enough how much this is against my norm, as my favorite albums of the last few years include clipping., For Those I Love, Terror Jr, Carly Rae Jepsen, etc. but this shoegaze folk album from a man battling with cancer is truly something else

Her Loss...Honestly, Nevermind higher than Renaissance?!?! The same album that you said Beyoncé was eating his lunch over in the first listen? Listening to your reasoning for the list definitely hammers in this is a deeply subjective ranking but when I hear your justification of albums it makes Ren being #15 even more confusing.... I guess after all of these videos I had to disagree with you one of these days, ha!

Even so, this list provided me with a few albums I missed, so thanks for that!

My top, in no particular order (except the highest one): Ants From Up There by Black Country, New Road; Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You by Big Thief; Hellfire by Black Midi; I Didn't Mean to Haunt You by Quadeca; angel in realtime by Gang of Youths; Raw Data Feel by Everything, Everything; Here Goes Nothing by Adam Melchor; and Stick Season by Noah Kahan. Then, of course, number one has to be American Heartbreak by Zach Bryan, the only country album on my list, and one of the few albums of 2022 that feels as timely as it is timeless. Not only do I love the music, I love everything that it stands for, every choice that was made, and the rough-and-tumble exterior to the truly beautiful and poetic lyricism. I was really sad that Quadeca didn't make it on here. From the reaction, I assumed he would be. A shame, really.
