My grandfather has a TrailBlazer and he's had it since I can remember and I don't think there's many problems with it. I want to buy a TrailBlazer SS but maybe I should avoid that car then? I'm really not sure. I would like a nice luxurious compact-midsize SUV with a V6 at least for some speed and with good fuel economy and reliability. Would a Japanese car fit this description better?

Although I do like your videos you are wrong. EVERYONE has bias. I had a 2016 Chrysler 200 it was a great car. I now own a VW Jetta TDI. I absolutely love it. I've never had a car that's as fun as that one. We can all tell you are biased towards Saab. But every Saab should be on this list. Buying them used is a terrible idea. I'm a technician myself and those cars need to be taken care of to last so unless you are well versed with your Saabs then you shouldn't ever buy a used one. They are money pits for people who aren't mechanically inclined. So is my Jetta TDI. Unless you can do the maintenance yourself and understand the engine and tranny in my car you shouldn't buy one

Valet here. One vehicle I have noticed with a common or recurring problem is the Ford Escape, I think the 2nd generation. I have so many of these where the key doesn't start the vehicle when turned. Oftentimes, I have to move the key around and turn in a sharp, jarring fashion in order to attempt to start the vehicle.

For the cavalier, i would say that '03 and up were nothing but problems. '02 is when they put their 2.4 DOHC engine in it, but if you find an '02 cavalier with an OHV 2.2 the damn thing will probably run forever, despite having a plastic timing chain tensioner that'll deteriorate and make the engine sound like a can full of rocks.

I absolutely love Chrysler but I can 100% agree with you on the Dodge Dart (pretty much any model year it was built). No joke, this girl in my hall at college has a base model 2013 Dodge Dart and I remember the only time I rode in it, the transmission was lazily shifting and you could actually feel it when riding down the road. Might I also mention that her check engine light was on and I told her about it and she said “I know, I took it to the dealership and they couldn’t figure it out.” So sure enough, I do some research and the check engine light being on and the dealerships not being above to figure out what was wrong and fix it. As far as the transmission goes, also found numerous issues with the transmission such as rough shifts like you had said.

I think that the ION problems began with the fact that GM did not take the time
to refine the ION before introducing it for sale. The problems that you mention such as the stuck key were probably due to the ignition switch situation. Another problem was with the
electronic power steering. At first GM decided to send a letter to ION owners that if it failed just bring it to a GM dealer-no hassle -they would replace it and warranty the replacement.
Here is where it gets interesting-you had to wait for it to fail. When the ignition switch problem with the ION, Colbalt & HRR came about GM was either told to or decided to have ION owners bring them in for the power steering & not to wait . Another problem would be the front end. Besides the struts which is typical replacement I have replaced the front end bearings and links. Looking through Car Fax reports on IONs for sale I have noticed that the front end repairs are listed on several cars. I was surprised that you mention the 2006 model because the 2005 to 2007 models are the ones in which the shortcomings of the earlier 2002-2004 models were corrected. One more point about the ION -reading the Car Fa reports I have seen them for sale with over 100,000 miles. They are not all that bad. In my opinion the engine and transmission at least with the later models are pretty good. The ION was not an "exciting" car but I have found mine to be reliable. Of course I change the oil at 3500 miles. I have under 100,000 miles and it runs very well. Some of the exterior trim could have been of better quality but for a $15,000 sedan it is OK.

You should have added these two cars with the Saturn Ion, as one big GM Fail...

Pontiac G5/Chevy Cobalt (common issues from my own experience of several different trims under these models, faulty ABS, plethura of ignition cylinder lock issues, ignition key/lock cylinder dubbed by most media outlets as "Ignition of Death" or "Ignition from Hell", transmission sensor issues with the 4T40e, 4T40e transmission failure at or before 100k miles, output speed sensor on trans not showing proper speed and relaying it to speedometer, fuel sending unit/level sensor failure, instrument panel lighting issues, headlight/taillight wiring short outs, sway bar links failing and the rubber around grease pockets rupturing even when new and causing rough rides with whining steering noises.)

You are correct about Chrysler earning the rep. Even our local PD got rid of their 2yr old Chargers and bought Fords because the Dodges spent too much time in the shop. I got rid of my 03 caravan with 90k miles, bought new, maintained well, because it was constantly needing parts: Swaybar links every 30k, ECU x 2 at 85k miles, CPS at 75k, and the red antifreeze(I flushed every 2 using OEM fluid) was oozing out of every gasket-joint in the motor, and this red waxy residue was packed around the starter-gear, the starter that failed at 70k miles. Lady driven, taken good care of but total junk. Go with anything but a chrysler.

Regarding frame rust. Wait, a Detroit automaker, that endures Michigan snow winters, doesn't zinc treat the bottom parts of its products? Toyota, based in warm climate, Japan, treats the bottom of its trucks & cars, with zinc protection? WTF ? ! ?

My dad had a Saturn ION that was purchased brand new in 2003 and that's the worst brand new car he's ever bought in his lifetime. It had a lot of electrical problems. He ended up trading it in for a 2007 Ford Fusion 2.3 SE in 2007 and he's been buying Fusions after that. Currently he has a 2014 Ford Fusion 2.5 SE.

I have a 2013 dart and hasn't been a problem for me.. just replaced a sensor and battery and thats it.. but I hear the negative also.. maybe its the way someone takes care of their ride. I love my little dart though, the only negative for me is no cruise control. I have the 2.0 non turbo so maybe another reason for being more reliable. Have fun with your cars peeps.
