it's fine. my bike is 3 years now, I had used water and diswashing to clean the chain, it safe to use in metal and steel to degrease you are even using it in your utensils, my chain is still ok, by the way I haven't change my chain in 3years till now I'm only changing it in few more months because of wear and tear but not because of rusts.
