WHAT IS HAPPENING IN GEORGIA?
* On April 17, the Georgian parliament passed"foreign influence" legislation in the first reading.
* It will allow the government to control civil society, as the organisations of "foreign interest" will become subject to scrutiny and investigations.
* It aims to suppress, intimidate, delegitimise, radicalise, publicly stigmatise and demonise NGOs by labelling them as organisations "pursuing the foreign power interests"
* Since the law was proposed, thousands of peaceful protesters have been gathering daily outside parliament in Tbilisi to oppose the law.
* Georgian authorities detained several demonstrators in an attempt to suppress the protests.
* Major allies, including the EU, UK, and USA representatives, condemned the law.
* Please help us spread the word about what is going on and raise awareness.
* Stand with the people of Georgia.
