NASA never said they made a discovery in astrobiology or that they discovered extraterrestrial life. They discovered an Earth organism that can incorporate arsenic into its DNA - which has never before been witnessed in the field of science, and has redefined our idea of what biological life needs to exist. So because of this discovery, the field of astrobiology has a lot more to go on than just: look for liquid water (which is scarce in the known universe) Don't twist words around

I tried watching this on tv this morning and some blonde bitch cut the coverage and started talking about something else because she didnt understand what they were talking about. Not every pretty blonde is a fucking moron idk why they dont get someone with some common sense. But ofcourse it turned out to be somewhat of a let down. They advertised it as WE FOUND LIFE OUT THERE...and its nothing like that. Still a very interesting find. But tv people make me wanna stop watching tv.

Are we alone? Question itself is invalid when you consider infinite possibilities in infinite universe.

how do we find anything microbial? sure we can say because of the existence of these building blocks of life anywere else there could possibly exist life. but that is not a hundred percent, so i ask, if we find the evidence of possibility how would we ever extract microbial life from the place in which we find it?

Earth is alive not just because of it's optimum distance from the sun and that it rotates on it's axis. It's protected by the presence of Saturn and Jupiter, which pull in asteroids. It's a special balance. Any study of distance tells you how many thousands of light years it is to the nearest star. So, even traveling at the speed of light, something from the nearest system takes thousands of years to get here. For me, it makes the notion that we will be or have been visited by alien life much more conceivable as man made devices that are used for intelligence. But here is a more important consideration. And ir's imbedded in our DNA. The other. When we're born, and get slapped to start breathing, do we cry out to communicate to the mother, or is it pure expression? When do we become aware of the other, and their potential in our lives? Animals and insects have developed natural camouflage and fight or flight instinct. Some are better than others. But at some point we all integrate the other into our relationship with reality. This includes the potential for humiliation, fear, attachment, desire, love, and delusion. We develop a conditioned response. This places us within the field of time, as thought seeks to preserve itself as the self. There is a struggle to be which begins to use the present as a means to secure the past, as thought, as the self. It is duality. It is projection. The present as a means to an end is not a relationship in reality. This mind creates images and beliefs. It is the conditioned mind. So the issue of encountering alien life is not the alien life, but what our conditioned response to it will be. Do you think the power of the experience will clean out your debris and bring you out of time as thought, as fear, as projection, as conditioning? Will you return to a state of continuous realization without accumulation? Or will you respond to this encounter with time?
