I NEVER FREEROAM ANY of my small Animals.
I don't care if the small Animal Activists say that you must give your animal free roam.
I don't or if I do it's only on the bed or on my shoulder.
I don't want rat pee on the floor,nor would I want my rats to chew on wires or chew holes into the walls,once they do that.I can almost gaurantee that you would loose your rattie.
Message for you Rat Experts-STOP PUSHING THIS FREE ROAM CRAP DOWN OUR THROATS!Rats will still thrive without having free roam of the house.(or bedroom)

People,DO NOT USE Aspen,Pine or any wood bedding as you won't be able to get rid of all the stray wood shavings.Go with Kaytee or Oxbow paper bedding and the paper pellets.

Until now I have never realised that some beddings are unsafe, because I never had problems. But now one of my three rats cant stop coughing and sneezing but is not sick. I went to the vet twice in 3 weeks now and his lungs are heathy and free. This video might be the solution to my problem. My rat is on antibiotics just to be sure.

Is Pets Pick Über Paper bedding okay? I saw something that said it was bad but im not sure, it doesnt seem too dusty (the dust free) its kinda tissuey? The rats seem to like digging in it, and stays clean for about a week (i deep clean their cage in about that span ^^)

i know this is a old video but i really hope you can anwser this. is it safe to use hemp bedding that have eucalyptus in it? im asking because that alot easier to get im my country then hemp bedding without eucalyptus in it

I got more for paper bass bedding but I also make sure that is not scented and I like paper-based bedding I never had a bad experience with them so that is a bedding I would go more for

question, if you have dogs or cats that shed can you use their hair in hides to make nests? i don’t think so but if so i might have to try!

~25 years ago I used to use pine shavings for my hamsters all the time, they didn`t complain but nowadays there really are better alternatives. Hemp bedding is so much better.

I used aspen, paper, and some timothy hay and my mice got mites. I read they can sometimes live in the hay or wood shaving bedding. Any recommendation on how to avoid this in the future?

Clay bedding works well to prevent uri in rats by keeping fungus and bacteria at bay and is a good odor control. Clay has been used as a medicine throughout history, it won’t harm rats! These beddings that you use is prone to have fungus and bacteria growth which will cause uri.

I’m currently looking into switch my rats from fleece to loose substrate I would like to go either the hemp or aspen route, but I’m open to any suggestions, my problem is finding a good brand that is affordable and safe to use, as in not dusty absorbent and you know not going to cause any problems for my girls. Does anyone have any suggestions on good brands available in the U.S.?

I was using tissue paper bedding all over the cage for my four little guys (they love making nest forts out of it.) but after watching this I’m going to switch to hemp and use paper as purely nesting instead.

I’m thinking of getting rats someday (not now, i have enough pets)
But I’ve been researching a ton before i get rats.
i think that paper is the best bedding for rats and i don’t like wood chips because most of the wood chips are dangerous and unsafe for rats.

Did i catch, you mentioned Sphagnum moss, is not good for rats? Because I’ve never heard or experienced that before

Weird question or thought I’m having I want to set up a rat cage and I’m getting stuck on the bedding I wanted to get two different kinds of shredders for cardboard so I should have smaller and larger pieces would this still be enriching for them to dig in since it would just be one size ?

For someone that has had rats for 6 years and has watched all your vids plus some other rat creators, glass cages can cause issues with breathing for your rats and bad temperature control u shouldnt be useing glass / plastic cages, please let me know if im wrong, ik this is one of your old vids but i decided to rewatch the for my new rats. sorry if this sounds like a hate comment, it really isnt one but i love your channel but thats the one thing i have concerns with, lots of love xx

What do you use for the border around the bedding? Plexiglass? Did you have to put it together yourself?

i tried aspen and ill just say i dont reccomend it. they hated it and would push it out of the cage.

ive been using an "eco bedding" thats basically like shredded cardboard for a while, i really like the sound of the hardwood shavings though (seems more economical as well). i might switch to that and just use the paper stuff for nesting/enrichment :)
