Set high on the hill for great city views, this museum is just 2 years old and has functional multi-media displays in English French, and Malagasy. The display of historic photography is arranged in an interesting and easily accessible way providing context and information about Madagascar's history, culture, geography, and economics. The name of the museum is a bit misleading, as it isn’t a museum of photographs on the wall. Instead, it has several screening rooms that tell different aspects of Madagascar life and history in short (about 6 minutes) films. These films use photographs to tell the story. If you arrive knowing nothing about Madagascar... this is a great place to start.
