I used caustic soda for my sink clog removed it in seconds.
ОтветитьYou are a more instructive Mark Rober!
Ответитьthis dude knows nothing about plumbing and drains, disposal out of sink? rocks in your toilet? bending the arm of the float? unclogging your shower from the drain and not the over flow? lol dont put rocks in your toilet, adjust the fill valve to the height u want, if you have tons of water that u dont want, buy another toilet that isnt a 1.6 gal flush but you better eat alot of fiber. dont bend your float arms, just adjust it. dont cable throw drain in tub, go through overflow its a straight shot down to the trap. this guy may know stuff but not about plumbing.
ОтветитьRather than use a brick, I simply fill a plastic bottle with water and place that in the sistern.
ОтветитьHey... where are the zip-ties? Thanks for wasting my time FOOL! Never again.
ОтветитьThe blades can't be come out of sync it's just one whole piece they don't operate independently of each other
Ответитьif you do not shut your main water valve close when you are gone 2 days or more use braided stainless toilet lines and get a pan with drain off and away under your hot water heater if its over 5 years old, best
I was watching TV one night in a condo in vegas one night and suddenly it sounded as if it was raining in the adjacent bathroom, the water line to the toilet broke completely, all braided now.. had I not been home at the time? I turn the main off now..
also for hair clogs typically hair floats so if you turn the water on full then wait till it floats up you can usually pinch enough hair between your fingers to gather it all up and pull it out very gently..
Ответитьgreat advice.
ОтветитьEasy fix for disposals. REMOVE THEM. I spoke to a plumber once and he warned against using disposals. Mainly in older houses. The hard food will cause all sorts of issues because solids should not be going down the drain. For 20 years I have not had a disposal and never had a clog or drainage issue anywhere in my house. Well, the toilet on taco night. Lol.
ОтветитьBath tub or shower hair clogging is best removed with foreceps.
ОтветитьWhen seemingly good guys like this video poster drink the clickbait KoolAid and post this video with that thumbnail, it knocks them down a few levels. It diminishes EVERYTHING they say. I guess they are desperate for money to trade their reputation for likes and view$. More views SHORT TERM because of BS like this may help, but longer term, if people (like I will) block every one of these from their feed, eventually they will learn. The higher views in no reasonable way validate the LIE of the FAKE thumbnail. There is no wink and nod of "OK you got me"...just a F-U and a block of future videos that may, actually, have been good. LRN2DIY...You FAILED at being a positive source.
ОтветитьThe bricks you refer to will cause problems in the tank. I tried them and after a couple of years they deteriorated and became useless. The residue made a mess of the tank and blocked the stopper from sealing so that the water from the tank leaked into the bowl.
ОтветитьWhere are the zip ties ,you fraud.
ОтветитьLike thousands of others...whenever someone uses a pic for their post that is NOT in their video, I never watch any future posts from them. Click bait, you caught me once!
Ответитьyou havent smelled anything til you fix a clog in a milk house floor drain. the worst was a septic system at slaughter house for blood. 1000 gallons of liquid black death. i could smell on my clothes all day. n then after i showered...it haunted my nitemares🍻
ОтветитьNothing wrong with making money off your knowledge if you know what your talking about , this guy not so much. Keep selling used cars .
ОтветитьI'm a plumber for almost 25 years, and I'll see all the folks that try some of these things in the field on my next service call. Thanks for keeping us busy!
If you own a home, it costs money to actually take care of it, I know, it sounds crazy. Do your home a favor and call the pros FIRST. A dime of prevention is worth a dollar of cure.
Here's an actual tip: if you want to save thousands in drain cleaning and re-pipe, ditch your garbage disposal and stop jamming your drains full of food that doesn't belong in there to begin with....or at least don't cry about it when we give you the bill.
I'm too cheap to buy a brick. I just use rocks.
ОтветитьAnother recommendation is to use a water catch tray under all sinks & put a water detector in the tray.
ОтветитьGarbage disposal is a plumbing time bomb when it is rusted and leaks into the cabinet. Get rid of it and use a deeper stainless steel strainer, instead.
Ответитьif you had to go to home Depot to buy a brick, I'm not impressed
ОтветитьDrain augers are to be used through the overflow of the tub, not through the drain. The hair you see in the drain can easily be removed with a pair of needle nose pliers. Take that out first, then try your drain again. Nine times out of ten, that’s your problem. If the water still isn’t flowing, then you get a small auger and run it down the overflow.
ОтветитьIf you don't know what you're talking about, don't act like you do. #2 is demonstrably false; how do I know what else in this video was just idiocy spoken with confidence? I'm sorry if this is harsh; if you heard the problematic advice from someone else, who you believed to be an expert, and you're just passing it along in good faith, then my scorn instead applies to whoever you heard it from. However, most of the following applies, either way.
When people profess to have expertise, that they do not have, in a confident tone of voice, people believe it. People, to be fair, should be far more skeptical and independent than they are, to guard against accepting untruths; as the saying goes, "trust... but verify."
Regardless of that, however, people should not decieve others for no good reason in the first place.
So despite appearances, you don't know what you're talking about, which spreads incorrect information. Because you're not the expert you claim to be, you don't know what unintentional damage your bad advice might cause; such as like the other commenter said, about how detrimental the brick-in-the-toilet-tank idea is.
Now you have the people who listen to you out there sabotaging their own plumbing, while believing they're doing what an expert would recommend. to top it off, because of the slow progress of the problems created by following these "tips," they're likely to mention these ideas to friends, and continue causing problems for long after the source of the bad advice is forgotten.
How do I know tip #2 is BS? I actually just replaced a disposal, and I enjoy perusing owner's manuals. Read any garbage disposal's manual: the hex wrench is used to manually rotate the disposal motor's shaft, and therefore the plate the blades are attached to. It's the same as if you were turning a (non-running) lawnmower blade by hand, or using a wooden spoon handle to manually rotate the blades in your blender. It's there specifically to allow you to rotate the blades back away from something that's become jammed inside the grinding chamber. So's you don't have to try sticking something into the gross and dangerous part, to unstick something that you've now blocked a lot of your view of, by sticking something in from the top.
Unless there's something really wrong, that hex socket head should spin as many times as you feel like spinning it. I can say with 100% certainty that a hex socket machined into one end of the motor shaft of a functional unit is not going to "adjust" anything, beyond the equivalent of changing the position from where it came to rest, like if you were cheating at Wheel of Fortune.
What the heck's a garbage disposal? How much do they rip you off for one of those things you don't need?
ОтветитьBad advice here, and a misleading thumbnail. Unsubscribed.
ОтветитьFor unclogging a sink, I use a plastic drinking straw. I flatten it, insert it into the sink hole, then pull it out and voila - stuff inside the sink sticks inside the straw and comes out. I have to do this a few times, sometimes, so I'll clean off the straw with a towel and repeat the process until the straw comes out clean. It works like a charm - even if I have to insert the straw in a sink full of water that won't drain because of the clog.
Obviously, if a clog is out of reach of the straw's length, this won't help. But I've been using this trick for around 15 years, and have only had to resort to other measures less than a handful of times. As a side note, I haven't had a garbage disposal for nearly 20 years. I've only use the straw method on sinks without disposals. I'd never do this to try unclogging a disposal, of course!
dont stick plastic zip ties in your drains.. they will break off and cause more problems
ОтветитьNote on the Plunger, NEVER buy a Black one, they all leave black marks in the toilet when they get a little older. RED is the color you want. Thanks.
ОтветитьIncredibly helpful! Thank you!
ОтветитьGreat job!
ОтветитьAll the Bricks got used up by BLM during the mostly peaceful riots.
ОтветитьIf you dont have a brick, you probably have a plastic bottle to put in your flush tank. Just fill it, throw it in there, same result.
ОтветитьBait and switch
Ответитьthrow garbage in the sewer. Only Americans come up with the idea.
In other countries, garbage is collected separately. Garbage would only clog the drain.
I vote Rigid as well
ОтветитьDid I get thumbnailed baited by a DYI channel l😂
ОтветитьDrains Every time I mak pagetti or such the hot water goes down a different drain. I also put Dawn dish soap in every drain every so often. 20 years and not one clog
ОтветитьThis guy does that a lot.
ОтветитьYou can fill out a plastic bottle of a required size and use it instead of brick #3
ОтветитьBricks in the toilet tank to save water, garbage disposal blades out of "sync" etc. Dude, you're not a plumber nor a handyman. You need to go back to school.
ОтветитьAmazing that its a dollar seven for a brick.
Home owners keep owning your home. Can you imagine what it'd be to hire a guy?
Ok he's try to get a million. So great
If you are going to use a plunger on a sink, you have to tape shut the overflow hole in the top/front of the sink. Otherwise, the air will just come out of that hole instead of pushing the blockage down the drain.
ОтветитьWhat would be better is a device that auto turns off your water supply when the leak detector detects a serious leak.
ОтветитьWhen using a concrete brick, be careful as sometimes they can break apart and cause dammage to the toilets or worse the sceptic.
