Pliskova had 2 easy wins and is already through to the semi-finals so no need for her to waste energy on an opponent who's got nothing to gain! Ostapenko is playing with zero pressure and everything went in for her!

I would say its because it has no bearing.. but it did seem pliskova was trying AND ostapenko kust came out of that epic match against venus.. im a fan of osapenko now. Hope she does.eeven better next year

Pliskova already qualified for the semi finals. Playing in a way to make this obvious to the audience may provide her a bad "karma" for the next match.

Many harsh comments directed towards Ostapenko. Ultimately she is still ahead of Pliskova as she has a slam under her belt. In reality slams are what counts. Not how many times you win Brisbane or Doha. I'm not saying Pliskova won't win a slam, but she hasn't so far and Ostapenko has.

Anyone know the WTA Finals prize money breakdown. The players get paid a fee to participate but also by winning matches. Not sure if Pliskova tried in this one?
