I wonder if you get rid of Uncle Jim in that? No trace at all!

Thanks so much! This step by step demo is exactly what we newbies need to keep our worm eco balanced.

Oh my! So many more worms down below than advertised. I thought the castings would be more fluffy and not so gummy too. Your demo is SO helpful. Thank you.

😀Yes, I would say you love lime green!! I totally agree, don't worry if you hit a worm, it is just like being out in the garden...but they don't get preyed on by animals in our worm bins, so even better!! Wow, they really reproduced!!! I have a VermiHut worm tower and had the same issue where the worms would go into the basin & fill it up with castings. I had someone tell me to fill one of the trays (it came with 5) with dry bedding and put it on the bottom...and it worked!! Little to no worms or castings in the basin, and the dry bedding tray gets inoculated with moisture and microbes making it ready to go on top as an active feeding tray!! Your videos are so well done and helpful and you tell it like it is, showing us all aspects of worm farming!! Awesome!!🪱🪱🪱

Thanks for this video, I inherited this exact same bin from someone who moved and finding out what I should do beyond what to/not to feed was about the only thing I could find, now seeing how to "bulk up" the lower bins by moving stuff around seems to make a lot more sense.

How do you separate your worms from the worm castings when you are ready to throw the castings into the garden? I know you won't get them all but I'm assuming you don't throw half your worms away each time do you?

From what I have studied, if you have water dripping down to the tray, you have too much water either by watering or too much food scraps that are high in water content.
Also your worm casting tray and the tray above is too compact and that is from too much water again.
Either stop watering or adding too much food or add more bedding like cardboard, paper, coconut coir, pete moss, etc.
The bedding layer should break apart without you having to do it manually because of high water content.

I love my worms and composting. Easy way to reuse scraps and not throw any greens away!
