As a data scientist, let me tell you Tesla is not doing self driving on the cheap, they just elected to put their money on having brilliant engineers and giving them the resources to build state of the art models instead of trying to hack their way with fancy sensors.

The fact that their investments are not easily seen on hardware in their cars does not mean they are not spending a huge amount on making a compelling option for self driving (btw, they used to have radar on their cars but after a few accidents decided to focus on their camara system).

Both Google and Uber also tried a LiDAR approach, but has since failed to provide a solution that scales, you be the judge as to what approach has a more promising future.

Coming from China, I’m sure it has people-tracking in mind before anything else. Why would you need to activate a car with your cell phone, if not to record all the places you’ve been visiting. Pass on a surveillance vehicle.

I’ll try and I had to do is buy one of Tesla vehicle and take it apart to copy it’s technology on the battery and make their own electric vehicles. How do you think Chyna makes everything in the world and it’s because they duplicated and steel technology.

as a normal chinese, I would share my experience in last 2 month about how I choose between NIO，xpeng etc EV. I have a kid of 7 years old, and bought my first car in 2007 of VW passat, and my wife bought VW polo at 2009 when we are young, and last year these car get old and my wife replace her polo with Benz E300L due to she like the brand Benz. then I start to look into the EV and comparing LiXiang One, Testla Model Y, BYD Han EV, and NIO es6, XPeng P7. I tried each test drive and did some study about 2 weeks about what the user said, then I decide to choose from the BYD Han and Xpeng P7. Tesla M Y is not a option due to the design of rare door and noise from the road push my eardrum, I feel not comfortable with it and I don't like the single pedal experience. purchase price is not the reason for me to give up Tesla, actually, the new lunched Model Y stand range in China is 10% cheaper than Han and P7. SUV is not really my favorite. In the end I bought Xpeng P7 with NGP(like FSD of Tesla), and I would say it worth the price after 2000KM in last 3 weeks I bought it. I would take Xpeng rather than Benz E300L, when i want to drive out. I have quite some comments in each NIO/Tesla/BYD etc. I would not list here due to time is limited.Tesla in China will beat by these chinese brand BYD/Xpeng/NIO etc, it's worth a try for these chinese EV, and these Chinese EVs are blooming in China market, soon they will lunch in the other area of the world.

Xpeng is a Cheap knockoff. Just like all those other cheap Chinese knockoffs. Nio is legit.

i trust musk.. if he says lidar is shot than that is a long term certainty. if expeng continue down this road and it is later clear that lidar is not the way then they will be back to sq1.

The car is very beautiful and modern, but today I tested it in Dubai and the problem was that it does not support English or Arabic; I found it difficult to deal with options!

I don't trust auto pilot on any cars. So, just take that feature off and give us more affordable price.

Of course Xpeng will be #1 in the software aspect...also show the clip of the tesla crashing in that truck on the highway...
