Each year, we host the Seacology Prize Ceremony to honor an extraordinary champion of island conservation. Seacology Prize winners have worked tirelessly to protect island environments and the often-marginalized people who depend on them.

This year's Seacology Prize recipient, Mohammed Kolugege, comes from Minicoy Island in the remote Lakshadweep Archipelago of India. This dedicated environmental leader has played a critical role in safeguarding his islands' ecosystems and unique cultural heritage. He has helped implement sustainable fishing practices, preserve shipwrecks that are now home to thriving coral reefs, and curated the large collection of unique cultural artifacts in Minicoy’s Seacology-supported museum.
