Joan couldn't put nutritious food in the cans? Nope. Just shooting at her long time neighbor who she never helped or loved.

I did very foolish things with the bears at the town dump. My mission was to dump the debris which I had raked at my uncle's apple orchard. They were only black bears. My uncle would have killed me.

A grizzly being between 0 and 1 on a danger scale is actually ridiculous 😭 unless you’re not in grizzly country or at a high security zoo (highly aware that’s most of the globe) the danger level is always at least a 4 or 5. Yes, they usually run once they smell a human. Yes, they usually don’t want anything to do with us. Unfortunately, there is a very large amount of people who like to push their luck. That and the more humans expand, the more encounters happen due to either trash raiding, or desperate predatory males who don’t have cubs to worry about which thankfully are still rare occurrences. Still, the bears need to be more scared of us than we are of them.

Its hard to believe that people could be so stupid! No guns! In bear country! Settlers have carried firearms in the Americas since the 1400's! How you you possibly be so ignorant as to not arm yourselves? I carry a gun inside my own house! You can gaurantee I'm carrying in my truck, outside, anywhere, everywhere, all the time. As an old man once said when the cops found a gun on him, "Better you catch me with it than someone catch me without it"! E.G. Its always better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it!

Man, why in the hell did they kill the cubs. These people just suck, they're responsible for five unnecessary deaths and then they cause a little extra just as a final touch.

I remember reading about this in the fall of 1967. My only encounter with a grizzly was in the Bob Marshall Wilderness in September 1993. I was backpacking and came into an area of white pines, which is good food for the grizzlies at that time of year. Sure enough, I saw one - a big silvertip - running away from me up the side of a mountain. It was so steep he had to stop a couple of times to rest. When he got to the top he swayed back and forth as if he was looking for me. I was sitting on my pack taking photos. That night I camped low and walked on the next day and went higher up into the mountains and it snowed. The third day I saw bear footprints in the snow. He probably knew where I was but it didn't seem to matter. I also saw some horse packers and they weren't bothered either. I felt blessed that I got to see such a magnificent animal.

Don't editoralize about the politics of Yellowstone's creation. So we should have just let native Americans stay in the park, set up camp, war with other tribes, hunt, ect? Hey, maybe in the future build a casino! I know reality is mean and sad, and civilization is built by conquest, but it's just the way it is and always will be.

I agree with other comments here. This is too stupid-the poor bears are just trying to survive this is their home. As to the deaths, leaving food around caused that also no bear spray? Poor cubs No medical supplies? The bears have to walk on broken glass and cans. Unbelievable. I have never been there. Has this changed? No more garbage and people camping without bear spray and food precautions?

I hate the fact that these visitors don't respect the wilderness. They see the bears as entertainment and when someone unsurprisingly gets attacked they want to kill the bear like it was the bear's fault. They were baiting the bears and wanting them to come. Why do some people just see nature as another thing that they can just manipulate to get what they want instead of respecting it and enjoying the perfections of it. Nature is unforgiving, deal with it and don't try to change it's ways. It's also so crazy that some of these people greatly underestimate nature and the wildlife that lives within it. Like really you routinely see hungry bears outside every night and you think it's a good idea to sleep out there or to go walking alone, without a weapon mind you!

They were bitches. How can they call themselfes men, but they wont go out to save a dying woman. 60 people in that cabin. They could go out 20 grown men with knifes and impromptu spears from broken furniture. If the bear did attack them, they could mob it and turn it to minced meat in secounds. But we all know it would leave.

When I go hiking in Kentucky where I live, I wish there was a possibility that I might get eaten by a grizzly bear. Would add a little spice to my life. I wish I could see this country 5 or 600 years ago. Big trees, lots of wildlife, and no blacktop or strip malls.

Christ bless you my brothers and sisters I love you all. I have to say this was a really good documentary. It seems like something I used to watch with my dad. When I heard the three facts Tom was aware of I was like, well this will end sadly God rest their souls. Especially when you showed number one and number two and said that the guests noticed they would fight over food. Two massive males no good.

It wasn't a bad idea to keep the tribes from using it - they often depopulated areas of wildlife as hunter-gatherers, devastating the wildlife for a long time, and moving on as nomads. They were destructive and it defeated the purpose of having a park.
