Vasily Zaitsev, born on March 23, 1915, in Yeleninskoye, Russia, was one of the most legendary snipers of World War II. He honed his shooting skills hunting in the Ural Mountains as a young shepherd. Zaitsev joined the Soviet Navy and later transferred to the Red Army during the Battle of Stalingrad, where he became a national hero. Using his Mosin-Nagant rifle with a PU scope, Zaitsev eliminated 225 confirmed targets, including 11 enemy snipers, within just a few months. His skills and tactics not only inspired his fellow soldiers but also changed the course of sniper warfare forever.
