I think you're confused about what thrust is. You can't just convert N to hp, because thet measure 2 different quantities: force and power. Power isn't force, but force multiplied by speed. (or torque multiplied by angular speed, which you probably already know) When you have constant thrust propulsion, like a rocket engine, in rest you have 0 power. As you accelerate the power increases linearly with your speed. At 36km/h (or 10m/s) with 10kN of thrust, you get 10kW of power or about 13.5 hp. At 72km/h, the power increases to 27 hp... yeah. Using power to describe a rocket engine is basically meaningless. The only thing that limits their speed is drag, because it scales quadratically with speed, not linearly like power. For a reciprocating engine, there is maximum power, and once you reach it you can only trade torque for RPM, so the torque goes down with speed, which means that eventually you reach maximum RPM and the car wouldn't go faster even without any rolling resistance - if there really was no rolling resistance, at maximum speed the engine would have 0 torque.
