Charcoal on Wood Panel: Bee

This is my first attempt at working charcoal on wood. I've always loved the naturalness and beauty of wood grain and have always wanted to combine it with my love for charcoal drawing and finally made the time to do it. I decided to draw a cute detailed bee with Alan interlaced rectangle and hexagon border to channel the shapes of honeycomb.I used a combination of charcoal pencils, conte a paris pencils, one graphite 3H pencil, and charcoal powders applied with dry brushes. I learned a lot through the process and can't wait to apply it to my next charcoal on wood piece.
