ОтветитьGreat idea that tony. Itreminds me i need to build another raised bed for next year because ive filled what ive already got
ОтветитьHi Tony that it maximising the space all looking good on the allotment
ОтветитьWhile you were lashing the stakes in Tony I was shouting " use your paracord ", did the same myself yesterday actually, got 10 plants spare and don't want to chuck them, built a quick frame and planted 4 of them in 5 gallon buckets and used the paracord I bought after watching you use it a while back, now only 6 tomatoes left, but I'm going to have to give them away, completely out of space...
ОтветитьAny bit of spare space i plant my surplus plants if i get a harvest its a bonus at the worst they keep the weeds down
ОтветитьSince I have no plants this year, again, I shall hark back to ye olden days! (Grin) I used every one of my plants, and yes sometimes I regretted it. That was fine, when we moved here 20 years ago there was no garden, as it was fall I didn't have one and I missed it. Lately, I haven't had but one or two tomato plants, they just don't like this place, last year's died a slow death. This year, I won't have any but maybe next year. Daisy is looking so lovely! She is a good girl, you are lucky. The neighbors have one that runs, it has had no training at all!
ОтветитьI think the one take wonders are great. Shows your garden and personality off perfect. Also puts a smile on. Great Stuff.
Ответитьtony greet video like you had loads of tom plants ,so went round the garden planting them among the flowers.sham to throw them on the compost heap.maggie ralphs wife.
ОтветитьDaisy's such a sweetheart!!💗
ОтветитьTony. How about a screen door on the back there for the summer. So you don’t have anything crawling in there
ОтветитьAlways plant them. if they fail at least you gave it a shot. it cost you nothing to try.
ОтветитьSpare plants go out front of house for people to help them self
ОтветитьAfter all that sea fret you've had, it must be glorious to finally see the sun Tony! 😀
ОтветитьI love your videos. As a novice with a newly acquired plot they are just the right mix of humour and information. Thanks so much
ОтветитьNow to maximize other areas
ОтветитьTony if you put too many slug pellets around your plants you'll attract more slugs than you would have normally had. How's your celeriac! It needs a load of water, I left mine on capillary matting for 2 weeks while away and they were sitting in water when I got back and were loving it.
ОтветитьI can't bear throwing surplus tomato seedlings in the compost, I plant mine in Buckets with a cane and only allow 2 trusses. Last year I planted way too many Cherry Tomatoes and ended up giving loads of young plants to friends and family, but I still ended up with about 12 buckets of varying sizes scattered around the garden (plus the normal amount in the greenhouse), I got quite a good yield, I had to buy a Passatutto to pulp them, it was a laborious task but the Sweet Passata was quite nice.
ОтветитьI always try and pot all my plants on even if over sown too much and I know I don't have enough room than I usually plant them into containers and as soon as I've harvested something I than plant them into the ground
ОтветитьLovely to see how you find ways to use every inch of your garden. Is it at all possible for you to acquire more land in the allotment? It might be interesting for those of us who don’t have a system of allotment gardens to tell us the history of the land you are using. Who owned the land, how big it is, how many gardeners are using it, etc. I’d love to know more. Thanks for another fun video. 👍❤️
ОтветитьI'm still in my first season as an allotmenteer Tony, but I've got seedlings and young plants coming out my ears. I sowed a tray of cabbages...they all germinated...I planted 6...I've got about 100 spare, no exaggeration! And I've done that with quite a few things. At least the compost bin will have a variety to chew on. Nice to see that lovely well behaved Daisy, she's so placid.
ОтветитьI've done the opposite to you Tony, runners and climbing French beans climbing the angle with tomatoes up the straight supports. A permanent structure sounds a great idea though!
ОтветитьI usually give my surplus plants to neighbours or friends or freegle them 👍
ОтветитьI follow the 'stuff it in' philosophy, But watering from 'below' is the way to go. Why water the weeds?
ОтветитьI giv them a way
ОтветитьI love the use of space... its so good when your night time ideas come to life... your most differently not the only one who has them lol
Keep smiling 😃 samantha
Great idea Tony, it’s just like Polyculture mixing stuff up, I’m glad it’s not just me that wakes up planning my garden 😂
ОтветитьAs others have said, some permanent arches or trellis between beds to maximise vertical growing space would be a fab idea, especially with that timber in the polytunnel just begging to be put to use 👍🏻
ОтветитьGet some tomato feed on the bed, the beans will love it as well👍
ОтветитьHi Tony. Great idea for tomato and support..hope it works out for you. Have you got a link for the tomato pots you’ve just emptied..as you say great size pot to pot into from seedling size. I’ve been using old larger yoghurt pots..but would like the reusable type pots but haven’t seen any like that. Thanks
ОтветитьWhat a great idea for runner beans once I set up my garden fully no dig deffo doing this over wood chip paths
ОтветитьHi Tony , you can use green tomato's in Curry's, and stews and casserole s. The lady next door prefers green tomato's to c9k with then red ones.
All the best Mark Cambridge.
I really need to plant out mine!!!
Ответитьwhy don't the slugs eat the weeds?
ОтветитьThe most pleasant man on the interwebs
Ответитьjust catching up with your vids tone. wondering were you got the old reclaimed timber for your raised beds from laddo? keep up the good work mate.
