I have some old ones, but they used lead in the paint and it can leech into the food over time, especially if the finish is heavily scratched.

We have a kitchen full and use it daily. Love the electric percolator. BTW, really stained cleans up with a soak in a mild bleach soak.

Is Vintage CorningWare a risk for lead poisoning? From my understanding the company has even said the vintage pieces should be used as display pieces.

We got married in the 70's, and like most couples, we received a ton of Corning Ware as wedding presents, which we added to. In that it was the 1970's, ours was "The Spice of Life" design. My mother and my grandmother both had the "Blue Cornflower" design. When we built our first (and present) house in the early 1990s, we designed our new "modern" kitchen in shades of blue. One day, my mother visited us with her car trunk full of both (she had inherited her mother's), their collections of the "Blue Cornflower," and swapped out with me. I use several pieces of it every day. It still looks wonderful and is, as you stated, the best cookware ever!

My mother has about 7-10 options in the Autumn Harvest design that she purchased herself in the late 70s, but the majority of her collection is the blue cornflower design that she received at her bridal showers and wedding in the 60s, including the soup pots, tea carafe, and coffee pots + handles to turn them into saucepans. I'm never getting rid of it! Her grandchildren are also using it in their homes.

I don't know how to cook (hence why I'm visiting this channel!) but I ran across Corningware in my local thrift store and I couldn't stop myself from buying it...I find it so incredibly beautiful! I now have quite the collection. I'm determined to cook more at home, so I'll finally have these as more than just decoration 😂

I was passed down my mother’s Blue Cornflower Corning Ware roast/lasagna pan. The stamp is a bit smudged but says CORNING WARE, A-21-B, cornflower design, 26x28x6cm, 4 litre, MADE IN CANADA. I presume it’s all legit and thanks for the video

I bought a few pieces in the late 80's since my mother had them growing up. Later on I moved to stainless steel to do my slow roasted meat cooking such as chicken or beef brisket. Every year or so I still pull out the old 9 inch casserole with glass lid just for the nostalgia of it.

You can tell the older dishes because the sides are sloped. My M-I-L has quite a few but she must've scrubbed the glazing off the interiors (she's a neat freak). Mine are mostly from 1979 through the 1980's when I was getting married & setting up housekeeping. I have picked up some at thrift stores. I loved it when they had outlet stores, and you could buy the rubber lids for storage.

My mother died last year and I’ve slowly going through her stuff. There are multiple pieces of the cornflower baking dishes, along with a couple of those clip on handles. This bakeware is what I remember being used originally from the late 60’s , early 70’s. Any idea where I can sell these.

How long would one bake a single steak, no bone, and no sear in corningware with a lid at what temp? I used to do this all the time, but it's been a while and I forgot my temps/times. Steaks came out great. Usually a ribeye when I used to do this.

I read that older vintage corningware has lead in it, and some people reported positive lead tests on it. An article said the older the corningware, the more potential for lead. What do you tihnk of this? Could there be lead on the contact surface of corningware? Maybe that why they stopped making pyroceram?

The whole "non -toxic" craze with jacked up prices for ceramic coated or enamel coated bakeware has me shaking my head. CorningWare is, and has been, non-toxic for decades and you don't have to worry about scratches and leaching chemicals into your food. I even use it in my air fryer. I preach to my kids all the time to quit paying $60 for a coated pan that's going to get thrown in the garbage in 3 years. Buy some old Pampered Chef, Fire King, Anchor Hocking or CorningWare from a thrift store and it will last a lifetime with a little TLC.

I’d like to add another Corning Ware comment. I’m a baker Of sourdough (almost 40 years at it). Have used a myriad of baking vessels for my bakes. A happy discovery when i recently used my Corning ware 5x7 for an artisan whole SD loaf. It turned out better than i expected, and plan on making my loaves this way from now on.
