Meet the S-EEEMERGING Ensemble La Mandorle

La Mandorle (italian « Mandorla » : almond) is first and foremost a family affair, comprising of sisters and kindred spirits making up the hard core. Strengthened by these solid ties and naturally curious and enterprising, the musicians seek to bring baroque music closer to their audience and promote research into repertoire, with a particular taste for the French treasures of 17th and 18th.

Almond is also the shape of the theorbo, central instrument of the ensemble’s continuo and a delicate instrument which lets one hear all the richness of violin, oboe and cello timbres, encouraging them to search perpetually for new colors and allowing the young ensemble great mobility. La Mandorle is indeed keen to spread its sweet almond scent beyond the traditional concert hall and reach out to a wide variety of audiences from classroom to hospital, having already carried out various outreach activities particularly with young people (Trousseau Hospital, St Jean foundation, Hop we care...).

The varied musical practices of each member, from medieval music to dream pop and contemporary creation, feed them (with almonds) and encourage the ensemble to take a fresh look at early music sources.
The ensemble has given concerts throughout France (Embaroquement immédiat Festival, Ternay Festival, Monts d'Arrée Festival, local Brittany tour) and attended Gli Incogniti Academy in 2023.
