Missing the point..it is intention behind the action and toyota care about workers as they have nothing to care about themselves

They are maybe reliable but they rust a lot,so bottom line there is one advantage of this you don't need to recycle them they are self-recycle cars.

I rented a Toyota 4 Runner for a month this past summer. it had 12,000 miles on it. I visited my brother who has a 10+ year old 4 Runner with over 200,000 miles on it. There was no noticeable difference in how they felt to drive.

I understand it was BMW who pioneered the use of plastic parts under the bonnet..(water pumps, thermostat housings etc) . VW quickly followed. I’m sure Toyota we’re watching this trend with interest, possibly focusing on the longer term parts failure stats and anecdotal customer reports. Here in Australia plastic parts are known to have a limited life due to the continued ambient heat, sitting under a hot bonnet in a vehicle which hasn’t been driven since yesterday. Cracked radiators, thermostat housings, turbo pipes etc have been experienced repeatedly by owners.
I wonder if Toyota, and other Japanese makers, are now using more plastics under hood? If so, the compounds used may be more flexible etc?

Reliability should be the primary focus in all products mankind creates. the longer a product can be used, the more reliable it is, the less raw materials are required. The better it is for the environment and our descendants and the world. probs to Japanese engineering philosophy and skills.

Japan builds bad cars,,they just dont sell them. Unlike ford or gm who end up with units full of detective cars which came off line. They patch them up and sell on. Toyota etc halt production to fix issue then carry on.

I think all you have to say on the subject is interesting but, bizzarely, you neglected to make even the slightest mention of what in my opinion is the number one reason the Japanese make the most reliable cars, viz the Japanese mindset. Ninety‐nine point nine percent perfection isn't remotely good enough for the Japanese car worker, it absolutely must be one hundred percent excellence each and every time they do their job. In short it's the difference in East/West cultural attitudes that's key.

I'm about to buy a used Toyota Corolla and the fact that it's made here in the UK worries me a great deal; I'd feel a billion times happier were it built in Japan. Fingers crossed....

When i was younger i asked my dad why we had 2 hondas in the driveway. 20 years on, we still have one of them. That set my heart on honda, so i went off and bought one. The 3 hondas we've had in the family are an 89 integera, that got sold because we needed a bigger car at the time. 1991 until 2006. A 1999 honda accord, we still have that. 1999 until present. And a 2014 honda civic. 2022 until present

American car companies try to mimic the look of Japanese cars without any of the engineering required to make it reliable. Japan car companies know exactly what metals to use in their engine to avoid early wear that will lead to failures.

Example of US tricks. I have a 2002 gmc savana 3500 5.7 Van. Headlights go out. The switch gets hot and melts the dash mount for switch so you can't replace. I bought a factory service manual. In it, the wiring diagram shows that the domestic version does not have fuses or relays in the headlight circuit. The export version DOES! So GM hates their own country and people? That is only one example. I could go on and on. I have tractor trailers, tractors, heavy equipment, cars, trucks, and motorcycles. All of the USA brand stuff has a mechanical pitfall that forces a niche proprietary part or dealer requirement for repair. It's sickening. Of course USA can make very expensive things very well. Jets. Tanks. Guns. Missiles. Monster heavy equipment. War machines. Roads. Wal Mart buildings. Etc. Japan can build affordable level stuff with precision and quality.
