Thank you Autumn. This is a remarkable feat! ''Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.'' {The White Queen in 'A;lice in Wonderland']
ОтветитьThanks Autumn. I can relate very much to this problem. I ended with the tail wagging the dog - too much time spent marketing and not enough time writing. My best creative time is also the morning (but no 5.30am for me - I'm retired from the permanent and pensionable), so I make the breakfast - while the porridge is cooking I go out into the garden and breathe in nature and it wakes up the brain. Then cereal, tea and toast and I eat it the same time as I open the computer.
My solution (after much deliberation) was 'DISCIPLINE'. Computer open, begin writing immediately. No distraction, absolutely no checking emails, no twitter or facebook, no marketing - just write. By coffee break time I decide if I've earned time off to do some of the other time wasting things like dealing with emails, etc. and I put a clock on it. One hour off to do that, then back to the writing if you've time - but you've already achieved some good writing.
Another time saver is ditch the ironing to once a week - and only do blouses, shirts, cottons/linens. Do not iron t-shirts, towels, sheets or pillowcases. I've found that smoothing trousers, t-shirts, sheets, etc. with your hand as you take them from the line/dryer does the trick. Most casual clothes nowadays do not need ironing. It's only a habit (that I've more or less ditched!) Try it. You'll save an hour a week for more writing.
