RANT ALERT: Is Derek Carr Officially the WORST Signing in Saints History?! | James Skrmetta Reacts

As always the rants are the absolute best. I did think Carr could help. This ties it up in a nice bow. Only problem is that there was a shit cup inside.

Some facts that Matt won't talk about, because he has a serious mental health issue affecting his rational thought process.


1. Carr had 8 different OCs in his 11 years in the league. Each year with the Saints had a different OC.
2. The year they made the playoffs but lost, they fired Gruden and his top WR (Ruggs) killed someone in a car accident that same year.
3. Defense ranks every year Carr was with the Raiders are as follows: 2014 - 32nd, 2015 - 22nd, 2016 (playoff year and leg injury year) - 20th, 2017 - 23rd, 2018 - 26th, 2019 - 24th, 2020 - 30th, 2021 - 26th, 2022 - 28th. Saints defense: 2023 - 13th (he missed half the games and defense still gave up 327 yds per game), 2024 - 30th (379 yds/game)
4. Years without Injury - 2 (per draft sharks)

Why it took him so long with the shoulder stuff this offseason? For those that actually listened to the FULL sermon and not just a small fraction, his wife had health issues & went through a miscarriage around the time he had appointments scheduled.


Complaining about him not being in the community? He was the NFLPA Community MVP in week 17 last year for hosting nine families for a holiday meal at the Salvation Army and provided each family with 5k. He and Taysom hill visited Ochsner Health Center during their holiday party, delivering presents and spending time with them. He also donated Guardian caps to the East Jefferson High School team and spent time talking with the players. He also hosted a night of worship at Mahalia Jackson Theatre with Demario Davis. He also held youth football camps. Anyone telling you he didn't do anything for the community or embrace New Orleans is misinformed and doesn't know how to Google or even ask AI these things. ChaptGPT, CoPilot, and Grok all tell you these facts.

The reason he failed wasn't because he wasn't good enough. He failed because neither organization knows currently how to build a team. I can build better teams in Madden and NCAA. I mean ask guys like Kyler Murray and Trevor Lawrence how far their talent is getting them without a team built around them? You know why Brady & Mahomes benefitted? Every single defense Brady had in SB years were top 8. Mahomes just landed with the best QB coach in the game (Reid, who made Vince Young & Nick Foles & Michael Vick AND Alex Smith look amazing, meaning he could make a horse play QB if he wanted lol). There's a reason guys like Brad Johnson and Joe Flacco won rings and Jalen Hurts, because those teams put together pieces around their point guard. Same with Brees. Brees was great, but his tenure with the Chargers (as well as Rivers) is example of why talent is not really what you need, you need better skill position players and a competent defense.

All the injury stuff in April was around when he was dealing with those deep personal issues (miscarriage and wife in ER), that you and others bashing him for the sermon still have yet to acknowledge from that same sermon. You're pretty much a Pharisee of modern day football.

And tone deaf for releasing car videos? It's a channel hosted by him AND his brother. Anyone who's followed his journey over the years knows he doesn't pander to people on social media or post all the time on there. If you've got news that you have to give up your passion, you want to make sure you get second opinions, etc before making that decision and go through the process of wide council, etc before making the announcement. What's sad is you never actually try to look at him as a human being or fellow Christ follower and that's low within itself. I'm not here commenting him because of liking him or the Raiders, I only know of your channel because I'm a Bama fan and you're one of the people we love to joke about your trash takes (including that one recently about the ump call in a LSU game).
