Spyderco was founded in 1976 by Sal and Gail Glesser. In 1978, they settled in Golden, Colorado, and initially, the company focused on selling their first product: the Tri-Angle Sharpmaker™ which was primarily sold at fairs and trade shows around the country. Since then, Spyderco has steadily grown to become one of the leaders in the cutlery industry. In addition to a worldwide distribution network and manufacturing resources in the U.S., Japan, Taiwan, Italy, and China, their innovations have earned them an impressive portfolio of patents, trademarks, and industry awards.
The Delica (C11PBK) is one of Spyderco’s most iconic and well-loved pocket knives, and for good reason. Originally released in 1990, the Delica and Endura have gone through many generations and constant improvement to deliver users a simple but incredibly effective knife. The most recent versions now feature screw construction to make cleaning and adjusting easier. The black FRN (fiberglass reinforced nylon) handle has molded Bi-Directional Texturing™ for solid grip and excellent ergonomics. Jimping on the spine provides exceptional purchase. This Delica allows for the pocket clip to be mounted for left or right-side carry, and in tip-up or down orientation. The round hole opening system and backlock make the knife completely ambidextrous.
The blade is saber ground VG-10. VG-10 is a Japanese made, high-grade stainless steel that has been used in both culinary and pocket knives for decades. It has a wonderful balance of corrosion resistance, edge holding and strength that make it ideal for knives of all kinds. A saber grind gives improved strength, especially towards the tip. The knife is razor sharp and ready to go to work right out of the box!
Made in Japan.
