The bar is so low, that the announcement of backwards compatibility is hype.

I believe in my heart that it will only be digital software , no cartridges which is sad for those who have all those physical games. I say this because so far, every system they have had has used different physcial game designs.

Long ago a game store owner told me that the switch 2 would be backward compatible with digital games only and when that happens his physical switch games would skyrocket in price. I hope he is wrong. I don’t plan to ever start renting digital games.

I hope it's a 3DS situation. I kinda can't imagine Nintendo doing a fully digital console. They've always been a pretty physical-based company.

Despite selling most of my Xbox/PS Games my Switch Collection is something I would never part with so fingers crossed the carts do work

Micro SD cards are alot smaller and hold alot more data so they may be able to cram it in using the same size cart and connectors. Not sure what type of tech theyre using. Hopefully they upscale previous gen games.

I think the switch 2 should be similar to the series s. Maybe slightly less. That would give devs a reason to make a switch port at possibly 1080p 60fps with good graphics

Note that they write 後継機種 in the post to describe the successor. This actually doesn‘t exclude the existence of multiple models, for example an OLED and an LCD at the same time.

I grew up watching dash cam videos, so the minute I got my car, I got a dash cam. I never thought I'd actually need it, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

The console would have flopped without backward compatibility. We are about to go through even HEAVIER economic times than we're in now, and I anticipate the gaming industry as a whole hasn't seen anything yet in regards to damage.

I'm torn on this, as the PS5 has shown this to be a double edged sword. While it's great to be able to play the games from the ps4 on the ps5, this also means that nearly all ps5 games have also been designed to run on the ps4. We have seen very little improvements in graphical fidelity, fluidity or anything of the sort. The best looking ps5 game was and still is Demons Souls Remake, and that was a launch title.

Yes they can increase the fidelity of the ps5 version, but they can't or don't use graphical features and technologies exclusive to the ps5 as the game would no longer be capable of running on the ps4. You will always have a better experience when gaming on a console if the software is built with specific hardware requirements. This is why the generational transition between ps4 and ps5 is so lackluster. ps3 to ps5 is a generational leap, 4 to 5 is barely a step.

I fear that with the switch 2 this will only be more pronounced, as it will hardly be a powerful piece of kit in the first place.

It's only backwards compatible once your girlfriend rolls up a $20 bill in the SD slot.
