THE GOVERNMENT should NOT allow these mfg to get away with this!!!. VEHICLES catching FIRE BY DESIGN is a deadly trap. Why would they allow this? PEOPLE COULD DIE. The GOVERNMENT should FORCE THEM to use THE NAT. ASPERATED INJECTION on all vehicles. What a set of scammers!! aaagggrrrhhh!!!
ОтветитьChanging the cam phase on my 5.4 L on my F350 that I paid $500! why are we using 5w20 It’s because of the EPA the thicker oil reduces gas mileage, with a 5.4 many mechanics, I’ve talked to state run a thicker viscosity to actually the camp phase properly
ОтветитьWhat drives me crazy is I meet people that are making car payments and they want to save money by pushing the oil change intervals
ОтветитьMy friend‘s daughter has a 2 L turbo charge Cadillac and she decided to lend it to her fiancé and he wanted to see how fast I could go. He’d be cool right well one he blew the motor and a big part of it is PCV valves were never changed And it blew the oil out of the seals due to the turbo pressure and blow by. Now there’s 31 year-old single mom is on the verge of losing her house because she had to have a snazzy Cadillac that’s 10 years old.
ОтветитьThe Toyota R 22 was a great engine because the bearings on the main and crank were oversized, and it was underpowered
ОтветитьOnly in German cars.
ОтветитьThis is why I avoid turbos that the average consumer salivates to. My last purchased car has manual windows and door locks from 2009.
ОтветитьIf yall need a truck for WORK,
make sure you go RAM!!
If you can't afford a new German car, you definitely can't afford a used one.
ОтветитьI don't agree that they are purposefully trying to design engines that last less than 100k miles. The real issue is that they are trying to design more fuel efficient engines, and going with the turbos and that just sets up a situation where there is so much more heat involved. And these are new designs not the tried and true engines that were perfected over a number of years. This kind of thing is going to drive people into electric cars. They are just more reliable.
ОтветитьThere you go. In Europe BMW done this for many years. N47 for an example. You run this engine in cold conditions for 30000 km here in Sweden with the same oil. And you do this for 5 or 6 years sometines with only 2 and in best case 3 oil changes.. The chain or something else vital in the engine fails. Catastrophic.
If you did your homework and replaced the engine oil every 10000 km and cleaned the soot that builds up. Even better rejected the crappy B7 diesel replaced it with better fule.
The engine would more likely still run perfectly today with 300 000km or more.
Very easy to understand your old washing machine never dies your new one needs extended warranty
ОтветитьWhy I don't buy new cars. .most of the material is cheap junk. The consumer ends up paying while the company pockets more money. Fck them.
ОтветитьBut what was the point of this rant, though? If there are any useful suggestions, the video is just a waste of time.
ОтветитьIt's called inbuilt obselesence
ОтветитьNothing in the current Infiniti engine lineup are not holding up anymore! First oil change (12-16k) by second oil change engine gone!
Ответить…to save the planet?
ОтветитьSamsung and LG refrigerators are junk too. DO NOT buy them.
ОтветитьCapitalism 😮😮😮
ОтветитьBuy an EV, i did ,im a retired mechanic, never been happier 😊😊😊
ОтветитьPollution is simply "unburnt fuel". And since liquid gasoline does not burn (due to carbon content) only the fumes of gasoline ignite in the combustion chamber. The tech is available right now and would maybe add about $1,000 a car and you could get 60 MPG, reduce pollution, and still not hurt the engine one bit. New engines run too hot today, because it "reduces pollution". Yeah, right.
ОтветитьWith today's manufacturing capabilities, you can create an object that works and lasts "X" numbers of hours. That is how objects are built, to last so many hours. So it is possible to build engines to go 400,000 miles (like Lexus) or 100,000 miles or 200,000 miles. But as long as engines continue to run hotter and hotter, that reduces the engine's ability to perform as it was built.
ОтветитьEvery car would benefit from a low temp. thermostat. Hotter running engines is one of the main reasons engines don't run or last as long. The "Best years" for cars is 1996-2008 by all manufacturers. Since then, it has been all downhill. We are no longer getting "the best tech". Instead we get backup cameras and "Bling". (It takes 2 seconds to look behind your car for safety.)
ОтветитьMy buddy has a 2005 All Wheel Drive Yukon with the 6.0 liter V-8 that is still his daily driver with 320,000 miles on it. He just loves the vehicle compared to the "new stuff". "Original" timing chain. Honest. And my 2002 BMW has 220,000 miles on it and runs like it just came off the Dealership lot. Low Temp thermostats and Better radiators in each. An engine never runs "cool". Just "less hot". Which is a good thing.
ОтветитьGreat video! I also agree about the "questionable" maintenance advice in today's owner manuals. There is no such thing as changing your oil or air filter "too often". But I do question the ability of 0W-16, or 0W-20 oil to properly lubricate engines suggested for some of these cars.
ОтветитьWhy? To sell more cars and more services, of course. This is the interest based, inflationary capitalistic economy. That's how you can increase your profit; screw others.
ОтветитьPlanned obsolescence it is called.
ОтветитьI have been blown away by today's unreasonable over the top prices on new cars along with all the electronics and plastics I see under the hood. I am an old timer who used to do all the basic maintenance and tune up for all the cars that I owned throughout the 70's, 80's and 90's including Mustangs, Malibu's, Volkswagen's and a Mazda 3 Wankel rotary engine. I bought a 1982 Mustang GT off the lot in Escondido California brand new with the old 302 HO "Smog Cobra" engines for $9,800 off the lot and I saw the beginning of the end we see today when I looked under the hood! I have not bought a new car since, but I am looking around and this guy REALLY knows his stuff! You and I are going to get real close Dude!
ОтветитьThere is a new science called obsolescence....
ОтветитьPlastic deteriorate in hot environment. Rubber breakdown over time. The more plastic, the more rubber, the shorter it last. They have them inside the engine these day.
ОтветитьPlastic clips repaced screws everywhere, and they don't last at all.
ОтветитьThere will be no classic cars in 2070
ОтветитьSHAME!!! Just don’t buy these programed junk designed to break
ОтветитьWhat they are not factoring in is who is running the world. Who is toyotomi of nipon. It's not that they can't build cars that last, it's they are not allowed to compete because that would go against the demons of japan. The reason certain brands particulary german and korea brands can go with their culture of going in for maintenance every 2-3 years by law. This isn't the case in japan or united states of babylon. Everyone is just being fooled thinking they have a choice but really the choice is made for you ahead of time.
ОтветитьWhat is B what is MW as above so below, what is Merkava Mercedes, What is satan toyotomi, what is manifestation hyundai, what is kiYaH, what is mazda zoroastrianism, what is the gate of H of honda, what is the X of chevy, what is ford? What is daimler chrysler conciousness, what is what is what is? Or stay asleep and continue being a slave to their system.
ОтветитьTURBOS SUCK
ОтветитьSuperb summary. Very interesting. We really are our own worst enemy - the people and the companies.
ОтветитьWife gave her old 1998 AC Schnitzer 540i to our daughter with 400k on it. It still purs like new. I maintained it myself because it was easy to work on.
ОтветитьYou cannot ignore physics when engineering ANYTHING. Bolting a plastic intake manifold to an aluminum head, which moves at a very different rate in response to temperature change will fail eventually. I was taught way back in auto shop (when there still was such a thing) that you needed to torque a head, then run the engine for a while, then torque the head again. Do you think they still do this? Fat chance.
ОтветитьI have a 2010 plate 2 litre petrol turbo, gets serviced every year even though i only do 2,500 miles per year. Engine ticks over, sounds and feels like new!
ОтветитьI will be driving my 22 year old F350 7.3L Power Stroke for another 22 years or longer. It's taken me 22 years to accrue just 40,085 miles on it. They are designed to last 500,000 miles, so I gotta long way to go.
ОтветитьDon't forget that in the beginning, people used to build things TO HAVE THEM.
Today, corporate greed builds things for PROFIT.
This works with EVERYTHING. Your house, your car, your phone, your food. Everything is sold for profit not quality
Rebuild a Chevy.
ОтветитьThe manufacturers are worshipping money. We should all worship God not money. If we worship money we get these problems happening!
ОтветитьIt’s not just corporate greed. Government imposed mandates on automakers is driving much of this baloney.
ОтветитьMade to fail 👌
ОтветитьThe finance box is where Dealerships rip off and screw over the consumer, it's all profit. Extended warranty are a scam, when you bring in a car for repair under these service warranty, the dealer service center will say it's not covered.
ОтветитьMG have said that their cars are built to last for 4 to 5 years, and the rest just don’t tell you
ОтветитьAll this talk about oil changes, pressures from the internal combustions, etc. is like a 22 minute long commercial for EVs like Tesla. 😅
ОтветитьBig massive thanks from me you said it straight to the point.. a lot of people don't understand that nothing is made to last anymore because it's all about money and profit..
I have noticed this many years and older cars were made to look last and last those were proper
Made well built engines
But now it's a joke these cars nowadays look good
And have all the technology and computer
Aid and fancy electrics but they will not out last the old cars at all.. so what your saying is 100%
True.. everything is for a short time it's greed and don't give a shit about the buying customers people wake up and smell the coffee this man knows what he is talking about a lot car manufacturers don't want you to know about all this..👍👍👍
