I left a blue state next to NY that does the same thing for a red state saving about a third on combined taxes. The even more apealling part to me is the new red state has better educated and nicer people, more freedom and much less crime. It is true that it is just a matter of time before the blue states run out of money and it gets very ugly. Democrats are indeed perpetrating a ponzi scheme but power is all they care about.

I always say, if you want to know how to NOT run a government, follow California and New York.

NY will go broke and then turn it over to the republicans to fix.

How did New York’s budget get so large? Corruption! Remember Mayor Beame in NYC? He was comptroller before he became mayor. I remember him telling us after taking office as mayor that he had no idea how bad the city’s finances were. As comptroller he should have known. That’s New York democrats still today. They have “no idea”.

What the dems were doing in attempting to stay in power at the national level was even worse; i.e. filtering billions through grants to non governmental organisations consiting of their own supporters. That was using our tax dollars to essentially pay off dem footsoldiers on a mass scale. D.O.G.E. has uncovered this and ended it,which is another reason the dems hate Elon Musk [besides his exposing and ending their censorship of Twitter.

Open borders are another form of voting fraud and it is ALL about more power for Democrats. Democrats are trying to create a 1 party system (like China, Iran, North Korea, Germany in the 1930's, Russia) The first step is to flood the country with migrants. In a few decades, there will be so many new democrat voters, that conservative or taxpayers or veteran voters will have no influence. Afterward democrats will be able to massively tax and or confiscate the properties of conservatives. Democrats already tried to take Trump's assets. Think about your freedoms before voting for a democrat.

If I had any compliments or areas to bow down to the left for their game- it would be these types of conniving, quiet, long-term background strategies. Oh, wait, I forgot. O'Reilly only criticizes Liberals and Democrats.

I voted for DeSantis as a middle class guy. Here was my reward: He invited NYers to come on down during COVID, and they certainly did. He had to know what would happen to local housing prices. He just had to. Overnight, our rents skyrocketed. The average income of the transplants was $300K. The average income for Floridians was $30-$50K. NYers who worked remotely retained their NY salaries. NY retirees had their6-figure pensions and sold their inflated houses for a million bucks. As one NYer told me, "We're kings down here."

They poured into the state. They did things like offer $600/month more than the advertised rent, in order to beat out locals. Florida communities invoked the state's tax gouging statues to temporarily help locals. DeSantis nixed these measures saying that he wanted to encourage more construction in order to bring prices down. Yes, there was plenty of new construction, often shabbily built, but it was "luxury" units geared toward affluent NY transplants.

Now locals couldn't qualify for leases because they did not make three times the inflated monthly rents in income. Moreover, landlords got so many deep-pockets NYers that they no longer checked savings and assets, only INCOME. Retirees who had a pile of cash but low incomes couldn't get leases. Landlords would not even accept year in advance rent payments.

A lot of landlords sold their apartments. The new owners, in an unprecedented move, started doing income checks on residents who had had leases for decades, and who had never once been late on rent. I saw this.

I also saw retail/hospitality managers who had to camp out or start sleeping in their cars. I saw mechanics renting U-Haul trucks to sleep in. I saw working families forced to move into expensive long-stay hotels because they couldn't qualify for leases.

I have read that to qualify for a 1-bedroom apartment in Miami, a single person would need to earn about $100K. I read that for a comfortable existence in Orlando, you need $100K. This is way, way more than the typical Floridian earns. DeSantis was absolutely heartless. He threw middle class Floridians under the bus. Sure, NYers LOVE him because Florida is still cheaper than NY, has no state income tax, and has nice weather. Florida is a colonial possession of NY.

Bill, this is the same crap that Democrat Leaders desired to do with all the lawbreaking Illegal Aliens that came through the border. That is, plaster them with as much "free stuff" as they could, at taxpayer expense, so that these new aliens would soon be voting for Democrats en masse. It is frightening as it moves millions more toward a dependent class, demanding more free stuff from the federal or state Govt & since the Dems would control the spending, they become the power brokers. ---And all as we move toward $37 trillion in Debt.

NY GDP is $2.1 trillion and has a 19.4% Debt to GDP, FL GDP is $1.5 trillion and has a 9.4% Debt to GDP.
To quote budget numbers as simple dollar values doesn't provide very good insight since it's all relative.

The Democrats in New York who keep on voting Democrat are proud to call themselves Democrat. They honestly don't see the connection between free stuff, illegal aliens, and their own tax bill.

and in Florida we pay no state income tax. Although real estate taxes are a little higher due to housing prices rising. The big expenses in Florida are home owners insurance, which is through the roof, and electricity due to keeping the A/C on to beat the heat.
