My first ever 747 experience was a trip to Florida via Virgin in 1992. I've never been SO cramped before in my life in any aircraft, my knees being jammed hard against the seat in front - and I'm only 6' tall!
Others were equally unimpressive, the last one being one of which the interior was held together with duct tape - and no inflight entertainment.
Ditch the 747. Nuke' m now!

@kym, some friends and strangers and I chartered a flight to Austin from Denver to the USGP! The others sat up front, and my wife and I slept in the rear bed! Due to "dynamic pricing", my wife and I paid $400US! My best deal ever! @Mile High Club to boot! 😂

Just a polite fyi, you are flying on a Boeing 747-8intercontinental, not a 747-10. Also the A380 is shorter than a 747.

A little bit of water,1 cube of ice and some leisurely sips would have make you savour the liquid gold without the huff. 😂 these are almost cask strength and concentrated with flavour so needs bit of a dilution and time to breathe.

The biggest difference between the 747-8 and the A380 is the noise in the cabin. You need noise cancelling headphones in the 747 to bring the noise down to the level of the A380.

Great video Kym, love the 747! My first business class flight was in the upper deck of a 747 in the late 90's. Question if you don't mind - you mention a few times you take sleeping tablets, what do you find works for you?

In that Lufthansa Jumbo first class, you were probably sitting further forward than the pilots!

Once you get over the nostalgia of the 747, the legacy noise is something else, when compared to modern aircraft such as A380/A350/B787.
However, First Class at a Business class seat price on a Middle Easter carrier - yeah, I would put up with the noise.

Sony has announced that accessibility ( Lufthansa may not do on the flight ) will be rolled out across all their cameras. It seems that voice control will effect certain aspects of the camera. I remain sceptical, as background noise in crowded spaces could mean certain for the idea. This blog was filmed on a noisy aircraft whilst photos at the tracks would suffer the same fate ? Does this feature come on your new canon ?

I know you slightly mentioned this in your video. But a fun fact about the 747 is that if you’re sitting in the front couple of seats in first class, you’re actually ahead of the pilots. Since the cockpit’s on the second deck!

As someone who wasn't flying in the heyday of the 747, I've been trying to find a way to get on one. My ICN to HNL attempt last March was thwarted by a late change to a 777, but I've managed to book a business class seat (FRA to YYZ) on a 747-400 which I'm unreasonably giddy about. I don't even care that Lufthansa business class is mediocre, I just want the experience of the 747 upper deck.

Also, I'm lucky enough to have been inside the first 747 ever at a nearby museum. But I somehow missed out on seeing the last 747 rolling off the assembly line.

P.S.: My mild 747 obsession was primarily heightened when the license plate randomly assigned to my car just said "00747." I took it as a sign.

Was it the First Class Lounge or the First Class Terminal you've been? Sadly no one greeted my after my First Class flight from Hong Kong to Frankfurt, where I had a connection flight to Hamburg :D. I had to walk to the First Class Terminal which is outside of the Airport and was not really a pleasant walk, yet everything was great after I arrived and they drove me to the plane with the Porsche.

No PJs!?! I preferred it when F was up on the upper deck and had a separate bed next to the chair.
